Solid cage for roller bearings
There are known cages for roller bearings in which the webs serving to distance the side shields and to guide the rollers with a side shield consist of one piece, while the webs have pins at their free end which protrude through the separate shield and are provided with rivet heads . In another type of multi-part cages for roller bearings, the webs connecting the two lateral rings are made of sintered metal and each form a molded body that is sintered into one piece with an axial rivet bolt protruding on both sides. The ends of the rivet bolts protruding beyond the rivet holes of the rings are riveted.
The invention relates to a solid cage for rolling bearings, which consists of a single-part or multi-part plastic part with closed pockets for receiving and guiding the rolling elements and two metal rings, each of which is arranged on one end face of the plastic part and is provided with retaining tabs. The task of the retaining tabs is to prevent the rolling elements from falling out of the plastic part when the rolling bearing is dismantled by removing one or both of the races.
Solid cages of the type mentioned above are already known, such. B. one that consists of a one-piece plastic part and mounting rings of L-shaped cross-section that hold the rolling bearings when the bearing is disassembled. The connection of the mounting rings to the plastic part is established in that the mounting rings sit under prestress in an annular groove which is attached to the outer surface or in the bore surface of the plastic part. In another known type of solid cage, plastic parts are arranged at a distance from one another, each of the plastic parts lying between two rolling elements in the manner of a web.
The plastic parts engage with their front retaining lugs in openings in sheet metal rings which have a U-shaped cross-section, one leg of the respective U-profile being rolled or bent into a radially circumferential groove in the plastic parts. When assembling both the first and the second aforementioned known cage, it can hardly be avoided that the plastic parts are damaged and broken plastic particles get onto the rolling elements or their roller tracks. After a short running time of the bearing, the known damage caused by foreign bodies on the runways occurs.
The purpose of the invention is therefore to create a connection between the plastic and metal parts in a solid cage of the type mentioned at the beginning, without damaging the plastic parts. In the solid cage according to the invention, this is achieved in that the metal rings are connected to the plastic part by rivets, the shafts of which are formed on the end faces when the plastic part is injected, and the closing heads of which, after the rolling elements have been inserted into the pockets of the plastic part, are fitted with the corresponding holes Metal rings and after heating the shaft ends are upset.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown in use on a cylindrical roller bearing. It shows: FIG. 1 the upper half of the roller bearing, sectioned axially: FIG. 2, the roller bearing, sectioned along the line A - B of FIG.
The rollers 1 run on the rimless outer race 2 and the inner race 3, which is provided with the rims 4 and 5. The z. B. plastic made of polyamide

fabric part 6, in the closed pockets 7 of which the rollers are arranged and guided through the webs 8. To prevent the rollers 1 from falling out of the pockets 7 when the outer race 2 is removed, retaining tabs 9 and 10 are used, which lie outside the roller pitch circle between the rollers. The retaining tabs 9 and 10 are constituent parts of the metal rings 11 and 12, which have a U-shaped cross section and are arranged on the end faces 13 and 14 of the plastic part 6 so that the legs of the U-profile on the shell and the bore surface of the The plastic part.
As a result, a stiffening of the solid cage composed of the plastic part 6 and the metal rings 11 and 12 is achieved and at the same time the connection between these parts described below is relieved of forces which act in the circumferential direction. This connection consists of rivets 15 and 16, on whose shafts the metal rings 11 and 12 provided with holes 17 and 18, respectively, are slipped. The shafts of the rivets 15 and 16 are already injection-molded together with the plastic part 6 during manufacture. The locking heads 19 and 20 of the rivets are upset after inserting the rollers 1 in the inner race 3 and in the pockets 7 and attaching the metal rings 11 and 12 to the plastic part 6 after heating the shaft ends.
After the metal rings 11 and 12 have been riveted to the plastic part 6, these parts together with the rollers 1 and the inner race 3 form an assembly unit, so that the outer race 2 can be pulled off and pushed back on for the purpose of installing or removing the bearings without the rollers 1 protruding from the pockets 7. The hot deformation of the plastic rivet shafts during the riveting process avoids the detachment of plastic particles with the above-mentioned disadvantageous consequences for the service life of the roller bearing.
The cage according to the invention can of course be used in an appropriate embodiment for all types of roller bearings.
