mutually perpendicular directions in their cross-section the cross-section of a single insertion recess,
The width a of the truncated pyramid 5 furthest from the base plate corresponds to the diagonal distance b between two depressions.
The design of the cross-section of the insertion recesses in the form of a regular polygon, in particular a regular octagon, enables the recess depth to be reduced and thus a better one
Space utilization. When using boxes with internationally customary dimensions, the invention enables 360 pieces of eggs to be accommodated, whereas egg trays with a square or rectangular hollow cross section only allow 240 eggs to be accommodated in the existing standardized boxes.
It can also be seen that in the present example four rows of insertion trays 2 are arranged in one direction and five rows in the other direction, but this is not mandatory. If the shipping trays are connected with their base plates 1 facing each other in pairs (Fig. 4) and these pairs are stacked on top of one another but rotating by 900, the rows of troughs of one pair come to lie between the rows of the other, for example upper or lower pair, in such a way that the edges of the square base plate are on top of each other. A stack of pairs of shipping trays arranged in this way can be easily inserted into a box. In this box, the bottom 6 and the lid 7 (FIG. 5) can also be provided with insertion troughs into which eggs are inserted before the stack is inserted.
It can also be seen from the drawings that the space enclosed by such a box is practically completely used.
Perforations 8 (FIG. 6) or weakening grooves can be made along the rows of insertion trays. These allow easy separation of individual parts that still remain closed all around.
