<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Flap holder for cabinet-like furniture
The invention relates to a holder for the flap of a cabinet-like piece of furniture with a connecting rod intended for articulated attachment to the one furniture part, which can slide in a
Guide tube lies. The guide tube is provided with a pivot pin or the like for articulation, preferably on the side wall of the compartment of the other furniture part, and surrounds the connecting rod at a radial distance, which it guides at its free end by means of an inner flange.
Such flap holders are used, for example, to hold a writing tablet in a certain opened position.
The invention is based on the object of creating a flap holder of the type mentioned, which is able to brake the movement of the flap when it is dropped and, if possible, takes up only a very small amount of space itself. The braking effect of the flap holder should be adaptable to the weight of the flap.
Braking flap holders are already known, but these are either bulky or it is not possible to adapt their braking force to the respective flap weight.
The object is achieved in the flap holder according to the invention in that the inner end of the connecting rod continues in a cone that tapers towards its attachment to the piece of furniture, on which a longitudinally displaceable brake sleeve made of elastic friction material sits, and that between an abutment at the end of the Connecting rod and the opposite end face of the sleeve a pressure spring is installed. The angle of the tapering cone is preferably more obtuse than the angle of the bore in the sleeve.
The testing of such flap holders has shown that their braking effect is automatically z. B. adjusts to flap weights of 1 kg as well as those of 10 or 15 kg. The difference in the cone angle compared to the steepness of the hole angle in the sleeve has the effect that when the flap is raised, the brake sleeve is immediately removed from the z. B. made of brass cone solves, so a self-locking is suppressed. The pressure spring prevents the brake sleeve from being suddenly pressed onto the cone if the flap is opened quickly or unintentionally.
In a particular embodiment of the invention, the pressure spring can be supported at one end against a transverse bolt in the connecting rod, which at the same time serves as a stop on the inner flange which is attached to the free pipe end and guiding the connecting rod. The cone at the inner end of the connecting rod can be designed as a threaded head bolt which can be screwed axially into the connecting rod and on whose shaft the brake sleeve sits, which reinforces towards the fastening end of the pipe. In a preferred embodiment of such a flap holder, the guide tube can be rotated with respect to its pivot bearing pin. The guide tube is expediently profiled on the outside, preferably square, so that it can be rotated more easily when adjusting the braking force.

In this embodiment, the articulation point for the connecting rod on the flap by a certain amount in the closing direction via the connecting line between the pivot point and the base point of the
Fastening part is laid on the flap and a toggle spring is embedded between the connection piece and head bolt in the pipe, the flap linkage and the toggle spring hold the flap in a force-locking manner
Closed position like a tilting clamping mechanism.
Further features and advantages of the invention emerge from the following description of three exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings and the claims. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the flap holder of a first embodiment, FIG. 2 shows the flap holder of a second embodiment attached to a piece of furniture that is only hinted at, the flap being drawn in full lines in the open state and in broken lines in the closed state, 3 shows a longitudinal section through the braking device according to FIG. 2, FIG. 4 shows a side sectional view of a third embodiment of the flap holder in the closed position of the flap, and FIG. 5 shows the position of the fastening of the guide rod according to FIG. 4 on the open furniture flap.
In Fig. 1 --10-- designates a connecting rod which is articulated at --11-- to the fastening part --12--. The connecting rod is attached to the flap (not shown) with part --12-. The connecting rod --10-- is guided in a tube --13--, which by means of a pivot plate-14-z. B. is attached to the inner wall of the compartment, to the closure of which the flap is used. These furniture parts, which are generally known, are also not shown.
The inner free end --10a-- of the connecting rod --10-- is continued in a smaller diameter shaft piece --10b-- on which a brass cone --15-- is attached. The brake sleeve --16-- sits on the cone, kept slightly shorter than this. It consists of a suitable friction material, e.g. B. plastic, and cooperates with the inner wall --13a-- of the pipe --13-- as a braking surface. The opening angle of the cone --15-- is kept a few degrees steeper than the opening angle of the conical bore in the sleeve --16--, which prevents the sleeve from self-locking onto the cone.
What is achieved is that when the flap is lifted, the cuff is immediately released from its seat on the cone when it was opened and the flap can be moved up again from the open position into the closed position without jerking. In order to prevent the brake sleeve from falling out when the flap is opened
EMI2.1
Temporary pressure on the cone --15--. When the flap is opened, the cross bolt --17 - also serves as a stop on a ring --19-- which is soldered into the free end of the tube --13--.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, --M1-- designates the bottom, --M2-- designates a side wall of the compartment on the piece of furniture, which is otherwise not shown; -K- designates the flap that is drawn in the open position. The pivot plate --110 - is attached to the side wall --M2--

is rod --113--, which is hinged at --114a-- to the bolt --114--, which in turn is screwed into the flap --K--. At the inner front end --113a-- of the guide rod, the diameter of which is smaller than the clear width of the guide tube --112--, a guide disk --115-- with the clear tube diameter is attached and partly in this disk and partly in the rod end Screw thread --115a-- into which the head bolt --116-- is screwed with its threaded part --116a--.
Towards the head, the adjoining shaft part --116b-- is conically thickened, and the brake sleeve --117--, made of elastic material, e.g. B. leather or a suitable plastic, is made and can optionally also be slotted longitudinally. While there is free play --118-- between the bolt head --116-- and the sleeve --117--, presses on the other end of the sleeve --117--, on which a thrust washer --119 - lies , the pre-loaded compression spring --120--. In order to guide the connecting rod --113-- in the guide tube --112--, the free end is provided with a hole-112b- that fits snugly onto the rod-113.
The whole thing works in such a way that when the flap --K-- is opened, the rod --113-- is pulled out of the tube - and, supported by the compression spring --120--, the sleeve - 117-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is pulled more tightly onto the conical shaft part --116b--, d. H. expands and presses more strongly against the inner wall of the guide tube --112 -, i.e. brakes. In contrast to this, when the flap is closed, the rod --113-- is pushed into the guide tube --112--, and the sleeve --117-- rubbing against the inner wall of the tube is pushed against the action of the compression spring --120-- pulled down from the cone - 116b - ie it can narrow so that no significant braking force acts when closing.
To adjust the braking force, the tube --112 - is twisted. It takes the head bolt - 116-- over the brake sleeve-117 - and, depending on whether the braking force is to be increased or decreased, the head bolt --116-- is screwed deeper into the thread --115a--.

4position, d. H. Dead center, is reached, the toggle spring experiencing its greatest compression, while it can only partially tighten on the further way to the fully closed position of the flap, so that it holds the flap shut with its residual tension.
