  Kinderfaltstuhl

  Children's folding chair
The invention relates to a child's folding chair made of stiff cardboard, corrugated cardboard or plastic, consisting of a folding blank which maintains its shape retention by folding, kinking and plugging individual flat pieces.

Children's folding chairs are used in particular in children's rooms. These chairs have the advantage that they are light and that children can easily transport them themselves. In view of their low weight and the material used, there is no risk of injury to children when playing. In small apartments in which no special children's rooms are available, such folding chairs can be unfolded in a few simple steps and stored in the form of the folding blank without taking up any special space.

Collapsible children's chairs are known. However, these consist of a wooden or

Metal frame and are equipped with a textile or plastic cover. In these known chairs, folding requires articulation points. Due to the material used and the existing joints, children can easily injure themselves when handling such furniture.

This furniture is also relatively heavy, so that small children are not able to transport them.

In contrast, the object of the invention is to create a folding chair for children which has no joints and which is made of a material that eliminates the risk of injury to children while being light, and which can be unfolded to save space when not in use.

The solution to this problem is, according to the innovation, a child's folding chair made of stiff cardboard, corrugated cardboard or plastic, which consists of a folding blank whose shape retention is achieved by folding and kinking individual flat pieces, the folding blank being rectangular in shape and from its longer side is divided from parallel to its shorter side into three uniform central fields, which are laterally bounded by two equally uniform edge fields of equal length and half the width of the central fields, and the division of the fields is formed by incisions and fold lines running parallel to the shorter side.

Further details, features and advantages of the invention emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. 1 shows a folding blank, FIG. 2 shows a folding chair for children and FIG. 3 shows a stiffening piece.

A folding blank --10-- consists of a rectangular piece of stiff cardboard, corrugated cardboard, plastic or the like. The folding strip -10- is parallel from its longer side --16--
 EMI1.1
Edge fields, which have the same length but only half the width, divided. This division is made by crease lines and incisions running parallel to the side --18--.

The middle rectangular fields of the same size are in turn further subdivided into a rectangular central field --20--, a square field --22--, the side length of which corresponds to the narrower side of the field --20--, and a rectangular field - -24--, the longer side of which is equal to the narrow side

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

of the field is --20--. The peripheral fields are divided in the same way into a rectangular central field -26-, a rectangular field -28- and a square field -30--, with the central fields -26- in the reverse sequence of rectangular fields - -28-- and square fields --30-- are included.

The middle midfield --20-- is in that
 EMI2.1
square field --32 - lying square field-22 - is divided into two equally large, rectangular ones by a folding line running parallel to the side and intersecting its center
 EMI2.2
--32--, --32-- folded perpendicular to the rectangular field --34-- and the rectangular section of the square field --22-- bordering field --32-- brought into a perpendicular position to field -32.

Then the remaining square fields --22-- are bent perpendicular to the triangular fields --36-- and the latter are placed perpendicular to square field -32. The remaining pieces of the two outer fields - 20 - lie with their inside against the outside of the
 EMI2.3
--22-- lie, - 36-- and the side fields-20-. Now the rectangular fields --26-- are unfolded onto the outside of the outer field --22-- and the rectangular fields --28-- are folded with their back onto the front of the front field --22--. The backrest part of the chair --12 - is now completed.

To form the front boundary surfaces, the remaining rectangular piece of the central square field - 22 - is then bent over so that the material is doubled. The small square fields -30-are then folded over. Then the three fields - 24 - are folded over in the same way to form a doubling of the material, so that a square footprint corresponding to the area of the field --32 - is created. Below the joint between the seat and the backrest, the kinked edge of the field --32-- is supported by the free edges of the field --30-- and the folded rectangular field of the central square field --22--.

The children's folding chair - 12 - is ready for use.

Fig. 3 shows a stiffening piece - 14 - which can be folded into a modification of the folding blank - 10 - to increase the stability in the back. With this modification, the square fields - 22 - can be dispensed with, since the stiffening piece takes over its functions.

To improve the shape retention of the child's folding chair, the corresponding free sides of the fields can be provided with interlocking teeth, not shown in the drawing.

At the bottom of the children's folding chair - 12 - a box-shaped cavity with a square base is formed. This can be placed on a cube so that the seat can be adjusted for children of different ages. If the children's folding chair is placed on its side rests and top edge of the backrest, the box on the floor, delimited by fields --24, 30 and 32 - can be used as a play box.

The material of the chair can be colored in a known manner, laminated with plastic films or provided with upholstery fabric.

The invention is by no means bound in detail to the embodiment described, but rather, depending on the material used, it also extends to a child's folding chair which, instead of the sharp kinked edges, has curved deflection of its boundary surfaces.

When not in use, the folding chair - 12 - can be unfolded in a few simple steps and stored as a folding blank --10-- without taking up significant space, so that it can be set up again quickly if required.
