LetterngleMform.
Fig. 3 ist eine Rückansicht der Form. Fig. 9, 10, 11,12 und 13 zeigen Einzelheiten.

Letter form.
The subject matter of the present invention is a mold for letter casting, which is essentially characterized in that the slug mold blocks are arranged so that they can be displaced to a limited extent and are automatically removed by means of springs or other suitable devices
EMI1.1
can be canceled automatically in which the mold rises, i.e. before the casting has had time to cool down. In this way, the cast spigot breaks off deeply enough at a time when the mass is still relatively soft, so that it is no longer necessary to plan the base of the type.
The drawings show an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
Fig. 1 and 2 are front views of the form in the closed or half-open and fully open, dotted position indicated. Figure 3 is a rear view of the mold. 4 and 4 a show a letter with or without a slug. Figures 5 and 6 are internal views of the upper and lower parts of the mold, respectively. 7 and 8 are sections along lines 7, 7 and in FIGS. 1, ó and 6. FIGS. 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 show details.
The upper part B of the mold is articulated to the lower fixed part A.
The inlet opening 39 (Fig. 7) for the metal is formed from two blocks 14 on parts A and 1Ii on part B, which are attached to plates 1Z and 17 (Fig. 3, 7, 8,9, 12) by means of holes. J the l'latton recessed screws 19 are attached.
The plates 15 and 17 slide on frames 21 and 25 and are connected to these by screws 23 and 27, the offset pins 24 and 26 of which engage in elongated slots 20 and 29 of the plates 15 and 17 and limit the movement thereof.
The shaped pieces 22 and 26 of the letters rest on the plates 15 and 17 and have plates 33 and 35 (FIGS. 7 and 8) on their front end faces which are fastened with screws countersunk in holes 34 (FIG. 10) and provided with holes to which holes in the fittings 22 and 26 which are used to accommodate coil springs 3J.
These coil springs hold the blocks 14 and 16 at a distance 32 from the plates 33 and 35 and at a corresponding distance 80 of the shoulders of the fittings 22 and 26 from the inner end faces of the plates 15 and 17.
On the outer edge of the plates 33 and 3i) recesses are formed by recessed parts a (FIG. 10) which grip over the side edge 1 of the plates 15 and 17 while
EMI1.2
and 15 come to rest.
One shoulder of the blocks (FIGS. 8 and 9) has a wedge-shaped recess 40 in which a nose 41 (FIG. 4) is formed during casting, which is intended to hold the slug d in place when the letter 9 is broken off.
In the casting position, the blocks 14 and 16 are pressed against an abutment plate 43 (FIG. 13), at the bore of which the casting nozzle 42 of the metal pot, which contains the cast metal, rests: the blocks are against the resistance of the springs 31 on the fittings 22 and 26 or their end plates 33 and 25 are pressed, whereupon the casting takes place.
The foot of the ladder is formed by two smooth edges 7t (FIGS. 4 and 4 a), between which the one groove b is formed, in the approximate center of which the slug d connects; If the whole shape is now moved away from the abutment plate 43 as usual, the tongues 31 cause the slug to break off in the groove, while the edges h remain undamaged and the letter is thrown off in a completely usable state.
