Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   In the device for performing the method, at least one bar acts on the
Outside each one overlapping plate with at least one set screw together, which in the
Plate generates an adjustable bending stress that counteracts the deformations.

   When deformations occur, the bending stress can be applied before or after as well as during the casting operation. Due to external forces exerted by the screws or equivalent devices, the plate is stressed in such a way that occurred
Deformations or distortions are regressed. However, it can also be proceeded in such a way that, in view of the distortions to be expected, the to the
Mold cavity adjacent surfaces of the plate parts are biased. The two narrow sides are usually clamped in by broad sides, which are again connected to one another with two screw bolts.

   The bars forming the clamping frame are preferably on the outside of the two
Broadside plates attached such that the fastening means, e.g. B. screws, opposite the screw bolts mentioned above are attached approximately laterally towards the center of the longitudinal side. It is clear that the mold can also be acted on with the aid of these fastening screws, although it should be noted that the interaction of the fastening screws and the
Bending stress-generating screws, the contact pressure on the clamped plates remains approximately constant.

   In addition, a bar consisting of an articulated joint can also be used
Tenter frames are used, which surrounds the mold on all sides. This solution has the advantage that the clamping frame can remain unchanged in its position in the event of the mold being dismantled.

   A reworking of the copper plates of the mold wall can therefore be done with very little work
Loss of material occurs, which of course extends the life of the mold.

   But there is also the possibility of the two bars of the clamping frame through
To connect screw bolts that are guided with play through the protruding broadside plates.

   In addition, there is also the option of clamping the
To bring about narrow sides between the broad sides and to stress the tensioning frame on bending. In this case, a spacer inserted between the protruding broadside plates can be advantageous.

   Further features of the invention emerge from the description of the following exemplary embodiment explained with reference to drawings. 1 shows an elevation of a continuous casting mold, FIG. 2 shows a partially sectioned plan view of the same continuous casting mold, and FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III in FIG. 1.

   1, 2 and 3 show a plate mold for casting steel slabs with a clamping frame-1 - arranged on the broad sides - in the form of bars. The fastening of the clamping frame - l - is done with the help of the screws - 2--. In this tensioning frame - 1 - a number of lag screws - 3 - and pressure screws - 4 - are arranged. These screws, the placement of which can be changed as required, are in operative connection with the plate-8--. The plate consists of the steel plate --6-- and the copper plate -7--, which are connected to each other. The plates - 12 and 12 '- forming the narrow sides are clamped in place by the overlapping wall parts - 8, 8' - which are connected by the screw bolts - 14, 14 '.

   When a deformation of at least part of the plate, as it occurs, for. B. can be determined by internal gauges or strain gauges, u. Between both after the end of casting and during the casting operation, a bending load is generated in the deformed plate by external forces caused by the screws - 3, 4 -. This bending stress is adjusted by adjusting the screws - 3, 4 - in such a way that the harmful deformations that have occurred are receded and the effects of the distortions are prevented.

   Fig. 3 shows the interaction of the beam - 1 - on the outside of the plate with the screws - 3, 4 - which generate bending stress in the plate.

   The deformation occurs primarily after the first heating, for example due to the first casting, of the surface adjoining the mold cavity. It is therefore advantageous to generate the bending stress after heating once, i.e. H. only after the plates have been stressed by heating the surfaces of the plate parts adjacent to the mold cavity once. However, if the deformation occurs before the first heating, the bending stress can also take place at this point in time. However, if the warpage is detected during casting, for example with the help of strain gauges, it is advantageous in this case to

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 also to apply the bending stress to the plate mold during the casting operation.

   The largest bulge often occurs in the area of the bath level, so that the bending stress in this area must also be kept greater than in the rest of the area in the mold in order to suppress the warpage.

   Of course, the invention is not limited to the example given, but other solutions can also be found within the scope of the invention.
