Gegenüber den brocken-gefüllten Tropfkörpern mit einem Hohlraum-Volumen von 50 bis 60% besitzen diese neuen Füll-Materialien ein solches von 94 bis   97% ;

     ausserdem ist gegenüber den Brocken von 40 bis 80 mm Korngrösse die spezifische Oberfläche bis um das 4-fache grösser. Mit diesen Füll-Materialien können daher hohe Raumbelastungen von 4 bis 7kgBSBs/m mit entsprechend hohen Zulauf-Konzentrationen von 1200 mg BSBs/1 und mehr behandelt werden, ohne dass Verstopfungen auftreten. In diesen neuen Tropfkörpern liegt jedoch die Durchlaufzeit unter derjenigen der brocken-gefüllten Tropfkörper ; die daraus resultierende geringere Kontaktzeit des Abwassers mit dem biologischen Rasen auf dem Füllmaterial begrenzt die BSBs-Abbauleistung im Bereich der Teilreinigung ; bei schwerer abbaubaren organischen Verunreinigungen sinkt die Abbauleistung stark ab.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Trickling filter for the biological purification of waste water using aerobic microorganisms
The invention relates to a trickling filter for the biological purification of waste water by means of aerobic microorganisms, with a reaction body formed from numerous tubes.

   In the biological purification of waste water, compared to the conventional methods using chunk-filled trickling filters, the more modern, so-called “trickling filter method”, in which aerobic microorganisms are used, is achieved through the use of filling or drainage filters.
Honeycomb material made of different materials, such as those used in the cooling tower or in the packing structure, for example also made of plastics, from the procedural limiting feature of
The volume and, above all, the inflow concentration have become largely independent.
Compared to the lump-filled trickling filters with a cavity volume of 50 to 60%, these new filler materials have a volume of 94 to 97%;

     In addition, the specific surface area is up to 4 times larger than that of lumps with a grain size of 40 to 80 mm. With these filling materials, high volume loads of 4 to 7 kg BOD / m 2 with correspondingly high feed concentrations of 1200 mg BOD / l and more can therefore be treated without clogging occurring. In these new trickling filters, however, the cycle time is below that of the lump-filled trickling filters; the resulting shorter contact time of the sewage with the biological turf on the filler material limits the BOD degradation performance in the area of partial cleaning; In the case of organic impurities that are more difficult to break down, the rate of breakdown drops sharply.

  With the associated cleaning systems, however, apart from the return pumps or the use of multi-stage systems, there is no way of influencing the dwell time in the trickling filter and thus the degradation performance; In addition, the film that forms on the filler material from the individual waste water droplets can only be influenced by the waste water distribution; within the trickling filter, however, there are no possibilities to ensure that the entire available surface is used.

   The aim is to create a trickling filter of the type described at the beginning for the biological purification of waste water by means of aerobic microorganisms, in which the contact time and the film formation of the waste water in a trickling filter filled with the above-mentioned filler materials are controlled depending on the usual load variables can, u. between the materials from which reaction tubes can be produced as individual tubes or also in the form of bundles, or also a honeycomb structure, of any cross-sectional shape, any diameter and any length.

   According to the invention, this is achieved with such trickling filters in that the reaction body consisting of tubes is rotatable, preferably with an adjustable angular speed. Within the reaction tubes, the influence of their rotational movement improves the distribution of the wastewater droplets, regardless of the wastewater distribution, and thus the larger specific surface caused by the new filler materials is more fully utilized; through the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 Variability of the angular velocity of the rotatable trickling filter, the distribution of the wastewater within the reaction tubes can be influenced accordingly.

   In a preferred embodiment of this trickling filter, the arrangement is such that the axis of rotation of the reaction body and / or the reaction tubes forming the same is / are inclined relative to the vertical, u. between. Preferably at an adjustable angle of inclination. This achieves both a more favorable distribution of the wastewater droplets in the reaction tubes and an extension of their contact time, the latter of which can be adapted to the required load conditions by the choice of the angle of inclination.

   Furthermore, this trickling filter can be particularly simple in that the axis of rotation of the reaction body is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the reaction tubes and preferably runs through the centers of gravity of its cross-sectional areas, thereby avoiding any imbalance of this reaction body.

   Finally, with the arrangement of reaction tubes inclined to the horizontal, the trickling filter can also be equipped with an additional ventilation device in a manner analogous to that in conventional embodiments, which is preferably adjustable for different amounts of air, u. between for purely economic reasons. In the case of rotating trickling filters, the O2 requirement required by the process-related, greater degradation capacity must be guaranteed, especially since the natural oxygen supply is still restricted when the reaction tubes are inclined due to the reduction in the chimney draft.
