Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Device for controlling sun visors, blinds, etc. like

   The invention relates to a device for controlling sun visors, blinds, sun protection curtains and the like. The like. Consisting of at least one sensor responsive to solar radiation, an electronic amplifier, switching elements and a motor that opens or closes or raises and lowers the shutter or blinds.

   Facilities of this type are known. Their main disadvantage is that they respond regardless of whether the sensor is directly affected by solar radiation or whether there is only strong diffuse light, as can be observed in snow conditions in winter, for example. Experience had to be made that these facilities responded even when there was snowfall under a thin cloud cover, although the brightness was relatively high, but direct sunlight could not be observed or noticed.

   Closing sun visors and blinds under such circumstances is, however, not desirable.

   The object of the invention is to create a device which can remedy these disadvantages with simple means. As experiments have shown, this surprisingly succeeds in that the
Base of the disturbance variable (resistance, voltage, current) under the incidence of heat or light depending on the prevailing temperature or brightness. This is expediently achieved by providing at least two light- and / or heat-sensitive sensors (photo element, photoresistor, photocell, photodiode, phototransistor, solar cells, thermistors), one sensor being arranged in the direct radiation area of the sun and the other sensor in the shade lies. Thanks to this sensor structure, which controls the amplifier, which switches on and off again.

   If there is a switch-off signal for the motor for lifting and lowering or for extending or retracting the sun protection curtain, the disadvantage mentioned at the beginning could be effectively eliminated. If, for example, it is a sun protection device in connection with a shop window in which light-sensitive goods are placed, one sensor is attached in the area of the shop window, and the like. between that area that is directly hit by the incident solar radiation, whereas the other sensor is in the shade, for example in the area of the ceiling of the shop window or the upper limit of the same or otherwise in the shade. Photoresistors, photocells, photo elements, photodiodes, phototransistors, solar cells and thermistors are suitable as sensors.

   The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawings, without thereby limiting it. They show: FIG. 1 a schematic circuit diagram; FIG. 2 shows the arrangement of the sensors in a shop window and FIGS. 3 and 4 resistance characteristics and their operating points, FIG. 5 illustrates another possible circuit.

   A curtain --1-- in the form of a sun protection screen can be wound up or unwound on a shaft --2-- by means of a motor --M--. The motor --M-- is switched on and off via a switch-S--, whereby this switch can be operated manually via contacts-3- or automatically via the amplifier-V-, which receives its control pulses from the light sensor. This sensor --F-- now consists of a Wheatston bridge, fed with alternating or direct voltage, consisting of two branches, one branch having a light-sensitive resistor-A-, a potentiometer --4-- with a central

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 tap and a working resistance --5--, the other branch has a light-sensitive resistor --B-- and a working resistance --6--.

   Both branches of Wheatstone's bridge are parallel to each other with respect to the DC voltage source. The diagonal point of the bridge is at ground
 EMI2.1
 teristics, but they are arranged within the system to be controlled in such a way that the photoresistor -A- is exposed to direct sunlight, whereas the photoresistor-B- is always in the shade. This is illustrated using the example of a shop window showing light-sensitive goods. Immediately on the shop window-9- (Fig. 2) is the photoresistor --A--, whereby of course several photoresistors --A-- can be provided for shop windows of the appropriate size and different incidence of light.

   The other light-sensitive resistor-B- within the Wheatston Bridge circuit is located near the ceiling --10 of the shop window and can also be covered by a screen-11- if the shop window contains highly reflective goods in order to reduce the resistance --B-- to be protected from direct incidence of light.

   If the two resistors - A and B - are spatially separated here, it should be noted that these can also be combined into a single unit, with a front exposed to light and a rear in the shadow, which simplifies the routing of the cables.

   The operation of the device is illustrated by means of the two characteristics (FIGS. 3 and 4) which show the resistance characteristics of the photoresistors as a function of brightness. If it is assumed that both photoresistors - A and B - have the same characteristic, which is at least approximately true, then it is assumed that initially there is a brightness - H1 - on the photoresistor-A, as it is when the sky is overcast, . there is no direct sunlight. In Fig. 3, the working point of the photoresistor-A- is denoted by A and that of the resistor --B-- by B, provided that the photoresistor-A-, as mentioned, is affected by the brightness-H -.

   Since the photoresistor --B-- is in the shade, the brightness acting on it is lower than the two resistors --A and B - have only a small difference in resistance - AR - and the bridge is over the potentiometer --4-- like this coordinated that the resulting voltage difference on the bridge diagonal is not sufficient to switch on the motor --M-- via the amplifier --V-- and the switch-S- to lower the curtain-l-.

   If the sun now penetrates and its rays hit the photoresistor --A--, its working point moves on the characteristic curve according to Fig. 3 to --A1--. As a result of the incident light rays, the ceiling area-10- (Fig. 2) is brightened, but this increase in brightness on the ceiling brings the working point of the photoresistor - B - at most to the working point --BI - Fig. 3).

  The now existing resistance difference-AR - but sufficient to let the amplifier --V-- respond, so that the curtain --1-- is lowered over the motor-M-.

   With the aid of the characteristic according to FIG. 4, the conditions will now be described which exist when there is strong diffuse light. It is assumed that the light-sensitive resistor --A-- is affected by the brightness --H1-0-, which, as above, affects the two working points --A and B-- of the light-sensitive resistors --A and B - correspond to the characteristics. If the weather conditions change, so that the brightness --Hl-- changes to the diffuse brightness - H -, but without direct sunlight, the working point of the resistor-A - moves to - A, - -.

   However, since the resistance --B-- lying in the shadow of the-
 EMI2.2
 has changed, so that despite the prevailing relatively high brightness, the amplifier does not respond, which is the purpose of the invention. As already mentioned, this is essentially achieved in that the basis of measurement for the change in resistance of the photoresistor-A-itself is controlled and adjusted by the brightness.

   Since the direction of the incident sunlight changes continuously during the day as a result of the apparent course of the sun around the earth, it can be quite useful to provide several photoresistors-A-. In Fig. 1, the fact that the photoresistor --B-- is in the shadow was symbolically taken into account by the fact that two parallel lines on both sides of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   Resistance symbol --B--, which should symbolize the cover or lying in the shade. Of course, it is possible to provide delay elements within the control device, so that a momentary incidence of light that only has a brief effect does not affect the system
Can put operation.

   Such possibilities arise when the sky is partially covered so that the sun can only penetrate briefly at times, or when, for example, a passer-by is standing in front of a shop window and accidentally covers or covers the photo element --A-- with his body shadow. shaded. The setting of the potentiometer --4-- is best done when the device is installed.

   In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 described above, the two light-sensitive photoresistors - A and B - are on the same side of the diagonal branch of the Wheatston Bridge (see FIG. 1), so that these resistors are connected in parallel. In principle it is possible to connect these light-sensitive photoresistors in series, i. This means that in Fig. 1 the photoresistor --B-- takes the place of the working resistor --5-- and a working resistor takes the place of the photoresistor -B-.

   A simplified circuit is possible if the light-sensitive resistors - A 'and B 1-- are connected in series and the amplifier input is connected between these two resistors, preferably via a potentiometer, as shown in FIG. whereby the desired success can also be achieved. In this case, too, there is actually a bridge circuit, since the parallel branch of the bridge is given by the internal circuit of the amplifier, but in this case the voltage at which the photoresistors are applied comes from the amplifier, whereas in the embodiment according to FIG a separate voltage source is required to feed the Wheatstone bridge.

   In connection with the exemplary embodiments described above, light-sensitive resistors --A and B-- were always mentioned. It should be expressly mentioned that other sensors can of course also be used instead of such photoresistors, and not only those which change their characteristics due to the incidence of light, but also those in which this change occurs through heat absorption or heat emission. The development of heat is always associated with solar radiation, which can therefore be used for controlling sun protection curtains or the like.

   Since the heat development due to the incident radiation is much slower than the reaction of the sensor caused by incident light, if heat-sensitive sensors (thermistors) are used for the aforementioned control, expensive delay circuits can be saved, which otherwise necessarily have to be used in order to avoid a short-term Interruption of the incidence of light (a passer-by in front of the shop window) does not make the system respond. For the amplifier following the sensor circuit for the following switching elements u. Conventional means can be used.

   It is essential for the invention that the basis of the disturbance variable and the incidence of heat or light can be shifted as a function of the prevailing brightness or temperature in order to be able to achieve the intended purpose according to the invention.
