Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   Fig. 2 zeigt, dass das Gehäuse-3-am Rand des Siebes --2-- hochgezogen ist.

  Method and device for producing bodies from fiber cement or the like.

   The invention relates to a method for producing bodies, in which at least one
Layer of a pulpy mass containing fiber material is spun onto a, preferably movable, holey and / or porous base, and a device for carrying out the method.

   It is well known to manufacture slabs of fiber cement on a cylinder mold machine. Such a finished plate consists of several thin layers that are firmly connected to each other. This layer structure has the consequence, among other things, that the asbestos fibers provided for absorbing the tensile stresses only lie in the direction of the plate and thus only in the direction of stress. The disadvantage of this method is that only flat or simply corrugated plates can be produced with it, which Hans first have to form from such a base plate for a roof or necessary fittings.

   In another known method, in contrast to the method mentioned above, a plate with a monolithic structure, i. H. manufactured without a layer structure. The disadvantage of this method is that the drainage is very unfavorable and that a not inconsiderable part of the expensive asbestos fibers in the end product is also perpendicular to the direction of the plate, and the like. betw. uncontrollable, comes to rest. This latter part thus does nothing to increase the flexural strength and must be considered lost from this point of view. However, this asbestos content should improve the frost resistance of such panels somewhat.

   The recently developed method according to Austrian patent specification No. 272175 is theoretically suitable for the production of panels of almost any size and shape and thus also for most of the usual shaped pieces. A certain amount of asbestos cement slurry is sucked up to a sieve in a single operation, the suction time and the level of the negative pressure determining the final thickness of the plate or the shaped piece. The disadvantages of the objects produced by this method are similar to those of the bodies produced by the previously discussed method, namely unfavorable drainage and sometimes incorrect fiber orientation.

  In addition, in practice there is an uneven thickness across the plate. The suction of the asbestos-cement slurry from a container serves both to deposit material on the sieve and to subsequently drain this amount. As a result of the suction from the asbestos-cement suspension, all inhomogeneities in this suspension are reflected in the amount then finally deposited. Any uneven distribution of asbestos and cement in the suspension can be found again directly and, above all, in the deposited material, i.e. in the finished product. With this method, a panel of the same thickness or density cannot be achieved under any circumstances.

  The surface of such a plate is also littered with hollows and depressions.

   In a known method of the type mentioned at the outset, a pulpy mass containing fiber material is thrown with a paddle wheel against a rotating sieve by centrifugal force. Particles of different sizes are thrown off by the paddle wheel, so that the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 layer formed on the screen has an uneven density, d. H. receives an inhomogeneous structure. In addition, centrifugal force can cause the fibers to be separated from the
Cement particles are caused. The strength of a body produced in this way is accordingly extremely low.

   The object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to create a method which ensures a uniform distribution of the particles and thus a homogeneous structure of the body.

   According to the invention, this is achieved in a method of the type mentioned at the outset in that the pulpy mass consisting of fiber cement or the like, in particular asbestos cement, is finely divided
Form through a nozzle onto the, optionally rotating or reciprocating, permeable
Base or on a previously applied layer, in particular in layers, is sprayed, and that in a manner known per se, the liquid contained in the pasty mass sprayed onto the base is suctioned off with negative pressure, preferably for the most part. This process results in a uniform, fine distribution of the particles, which also emerge through the nozzle in approximately the same size. The body produced in this way has a homogeneous structure that guarantees high mechanical strength.

   The drainage takes place through the holey and / or porous, d. H. liquid-permeable pad. If several layers are applied, the last applied layer is drained through the previously applied layers. This is possible if the previously applied layers have not yet hardened, i.e. are still permeable to liquids. The suction of the liquid through the permeable base is already known from another context. In this known method, however, the pasty mass flows through a funnel onto the surface of a rotating drum, i. H. the individual particles are placed on the substrate without the use of pressure, so that only a low density is achieved in the body produced in this way.

   The method according to the invention also offers the advantage that by spraying the fibers can be aligned to a certain extent within a layer.

   The large number of layers also makes it possible, in the case of plate-shaped bodies, to produce the middle layers, which are in the region of the neutral zone, with less strength than the outer layers. 5 to 20 layers per body are preferred.

   In an embodiment of the invention it is provided that the spraying direction of the pulpy material can be changed with respect to the permeable base. The orientation of the fibers within each layer depends on the angle of incidence of the pulpy mass, so that the orientation of the fibers can be influenced by changing the angle of incidence accordingly. Changing the direction of spraying is particularly important in the manufacture of corrugated sheets in order to achieve a uniform wall thickness of the corrugations.

   In the method according to the invention, the thicknesses of the individual layers can be selected as desired within certain limits. The thickness of the individual layer, formed by spraying and possibly required for pigmenting this layer, having additives or fillers in the unpressed state is preferably 0.1 to 2 mm. In relation to the length of the fibers mostly used, this means that the thickness of the individual layer formed by spraying is at most about 1/40 to 1/2 of the length of the longest fibers of the pulpy material.

   The device for carrying out the method according to the invention with a device for centrifuging the pulpy mass onto a preferably movable, perforated and / or porous substrate, for example a sieve, is characterized in that the device for centrifuging the pulpy mass is a movably mounted spray nozzle, in particular in the manner of a spray gun, the inclination of which is preferably adjustable with respect to the permeable substrate. Compared to the known device, the centrifugal wheel of which takes up a large amount of space and is prone to failure, this device has the advantage that it requires little space and is easy to move.

   Sometimes it is useful to have several spray nozzles. The individual layers can then be sprayed from fiber cement paste with different compositions. This is extremely important, since in this way it is possible to manufacture the part of the plate that is later in the neutral zone with less fiber content. When using two spray nozzles, it is possible to feed one of them with pigmented pulp and thus only color the top or bottom layer.

   The drawings show an embodiment of a device for carrying out the method according to the invention. They show: FIG. 1 a schematic representation of FIG

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 device according to the invention, FIG. 2 a section along line II-II in FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 a similar one
Section like FIG. 2, but with a different base.

   According to FIG. 1, the device consists of two spray nozzles - 1 - for spraying on the mixture of asbestos, cement and water and a permeable base designed as a sieve - -2--. The sieve --2-- forms the top of a housing-3- which is connected to a suction device, not shown in detail, via a nozzle-4-. The spray nozzles --1-- are in
Distance diagonally above the sieve --2-- and adjustable in the direction of the arrows -5, 6-.

   Fig. 2 shows that the housing-3-is pulled up on the edge of the sieve --2--. Two layers-7, 8-of asbestos cement are applied to the sieve - 2 - through the spray nozzles-l-.

   Fig. 3 shows the design of the screen - 2 '- for the production of corrugated sheets. When shown
Embodiment two layers - 7 ', 8' - of asbestos cement are already applied to the screen - 2 '.

   The permeable base can be a felt or the like. In the case of the moving felt, there is the option of spraying pigmented fiber cement paste onto the felt of a cylinder mold machine or onto a base body lying on the felt.

     Example 1: A mixture of 16 kg of processed asbestos from groups IV and V,
100 kg Portland cement and water produced. The addition of water is to be set in such a way that a specific weight of the asbestos-cement-water slurry of around 1300 g / dm3 is achieved.

   The mixture is applied using a spray gun-like device as a thin layer of about
1 mm applied to a sieve and at the same time freed from excess water downwards by a suction device. This process of applying a layer of about 1 mm is repeated so that almost any thickness of a plate can be achieved. In doing so, a layer structure is achieved as is also the case with the process on the cardboard machine, the fibers being arranged in the direction of the layer in contrast to other casting or suction processes.

   The multilayer product obtained can then be pressed or otherwise treated in a known manner. In doing so, it is possible to color a single layer of such a plate and to obtain an impeccable connection between the pigmented layer and the other layers.

     Example 2: To produce a board with ten layers, a mixture of 8 kg of processed asbestos from groups IV and V, 100 kg of Portland cement and water is produced for the middle layers. The addition of water is chosen as in Example 1. The mixture mentioned in Example 1 is used to produce the outer layers. The plate obtained in this way has a central neutral zone of low strength.

   Quartz powder, kaolin, other organic or inert substances can also be used as filler for the middle layer.
