<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1

The invention relates to a safety catch for gripping parts in bores, in particular
Deep drilling.
During treatment work on conveyor probes or drilling probes, it often happens that some parts, such as screws, pipe string wedges, rolling chisels, connecting sleeves, chains, lift valves,
Cables, ropes, packer parts, etc. fall into the borehole, which then have to be removed again.
Numerous catch devices are already known for capturing these so-called "fish" in the borehole.
For example, a catching device has already been proposed for gripping parts in bores, in particular deep bores, with a catching tool that can be operated from above ground, which is coupled to the lower end of a pipe string that can be introduced into the borehole and is fed with borehole fluid, and whose catching movement is carried out by means of a piston Working space is in communication with the pipe string, in which
Cylinder wall at least one closable opening connecting the working space to the borehole is provided.
According to the parent patent, the pipe string with the
Catching tool coupled to be displaceable in the axial direction between two positions and has one in the upper
Position releasing the opening in the cylinder wall and closing it in the lower position
Piston slide on In such an embodiment, if the catching tool is inserted into the
Borehole encounters a resistance, which can be formed by the bottom of the borehole or by the object to be caught itself, automatically moved by the weight of the pipe string of the piston valve into its lower position, which closes the opening in the cylinder wall, so that without any control from above
Days the catching process is initiated when an obstacle is reached.
By completing the opening in the
Cylinder wall, there is a pressure increase in the working space of the piston, which causes a displacement of the piston and thus an actuation of the catching tool.
In such an embodiment with the parent patent, it can happen that, although the opening in the cylinder wall is not closed by the piston slide, a pressure increase occurs in the cylinder, which causes undesired actuation of the piston and the catching tool. Such a pressure increase occurs, for example, when the opening in the cylinder wall is blocked or at least the
Cross-section of this opening is reduced by the accumulation of solids. However, it may also be necessary to consciously build up an increased pressure in the pipe string if ingress of sand or the like overlay the catching object, which is to be removed by a flushing process.
In this case, borehole fluid is introduced into the pipe string under great pressure, which exits through the openings in the cylinder wall and whips up the sand and mud deposits and conveys them up through the casing. In this work process, however, it must be avoided that the piston shifts as a result of the high pressure in the pipe string and actuates the catching tool.
The invention has now set itself the task of designing a safety gear according to the parent patent in such a way that unintentional actuation of the piston and thus of the safety gear is reliably avoided. The invention consists essentially in the fact that in the connection of the working space of the piston - 2 - with the pipe string - 14 - a closing element which can be actuated by the piston slide is switched on, which in the position of the piston slide that releases the opening in the cylinder wall Connection between the working space of the piston and the pipe string - 14 - shut off. The inventive design of the safety device has the advantage that in that position of the closing element in which the opening in the cylinder wall is released,
At the same time, the working space of the piston is closed off from the pipe string by the closing element, so that any high pressure can be maintained in this pipe string without this pressure becoming effective in the working space of the piston and acting on this piston. Only when the opening in the cylinder wall is closed by the piston valve, i. H. So when the catching process is actually to be initiated, the connection between the pipe string and the working space of the piston is released simultaneously with the closure of this opening, so that the drilling fluid in the pipe string can act on the piston, thereby actuating this piston and thus the catching tool is caused.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the closure member has a closure member connected to the piston valve, preferably formed in one piece with it, and a sealing surface cooperating with sealing surfaces thereof is provided on the cylinder wall in the region of the closure member. In this case, the sealing surfaces expediently run in the direction of displacement of the piston valve. In this way, a particularly simple design of the closing element is achieved and it is possible to design this closing element in such a way that it opens at the same time as the opening in the cylinder wall is closed by the piston slide.
According to a further feature of the invention, the opening that can be closed by the piston slide can be connected via a channel to a space of the gripping tool that is open at the bottom and contains gripper tongs or the like, so that the drilling fluid emerging from this opening into the area of the gripper tongs via the channel arrives there and then, when the drilling fluid is conveyed under increased pressure, causes a rinsing process and thus exposing the fish so that it can be better grasped by the grippers. According to the invention, the channel can consist of an annular space, which is supported by the catching tool
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
surrounding Üverschubrohr is formed and which is connected via bores with the od the grippers. The like. Containing space.
In this way, the channel can be produced in a simple manner and a uniform supply of the drilling fluid to the grippers or the like from all sides is guaranteed.
According to a further feature of the invention, the working space of the piston is connected to the borehole via a vent line preferably arranged in the piston slide, the vent line opening into the borehole being covered by a sleeve or the like in the open position of the closing element. This vent line enables pressure equalization between the cylinder space and the borehole during the installation and removal work of the safety gear, with the fact that the vent line is closed when the closing element is in the open position, preventing the borehole fluid from escaping unintentionally.
In one embodiment of the safety device in which the position of the piston can be determined by spring-loaded wedges, preferably by wedges acting on the piston rod, which interact with an inclined counter surface arranged on the inner wall of the cylinder, as described in the parent patent, the arrangement is expediently made that the sleeve closing the vent opening is designed to be screwed into the housing of the catching tool and has a surface that interacts with the piston slide, with a part connected to the piston slide, in particular the closure member, in its lower end position against a wedge surface, whereby a displacement of the wedges into the Unlocking position is effected.
In such an embodiment, the bushing or the like is used not only to close the vent line, but after successful catching and after removing the catching tool by turning the bushing in the housing, the wedges can be moved into the unlocked position, thereby releasing the pistons and the snap tool is opened.
In the drawing, the invention is explained schematically on the basis of an exemplary embodiment, which represents a safety device according to the invention in longitudinal section with an open safety tool.
The catch device according to the invention consists of a catch tool which, in the illustrated embodiment, contains gripper pliers. The closing movement of these pliers-l-is caused by a piston - 2 - which is connected to a piston shaft - 4 - which has a cone - 3 - at its end. During the downward movement of the piston, the cone - 3 - is pushed between the two legs of the pliers - l - and thus causes the closing movement of the same. The piston - 2 - is arranged in a cylinder --6 - and by a spring - 7 - in its upper one

Inside the cylinder wall arranged mating surfaces --11 - can be moved and are loaded by a spring - 12 -.
The housing --13-- of the safety device is connected to the pipe string --14-- via a piston valve - which forms the end of the pipe string --14-- protruding into the housing --13--

--13-- temporarily completed. The drilling fluid in the pipe string - 14 - reaches an annular space - 23 - through openings - 21 - in the closure element - 18 - and through openings - 22 - arranged in the wall of the housing - 13 - -, which is formed by a sleeve tube - 24 - surrounding the housing --13 - at a distance. The annular space --23-- is connected at its lower end via bores --25 - with the space containing the gripper pliers - 11 -.
The upper end of the push-over tube - 24 - is connected to a ring part - 26 - in which one runs along the pipe string
EMI2.3
is completed by the closure member --18--, the drilling fluid arrives from the pipe string --14-- via the openings - 21 and 22 - into the annular space - 23 - and from there via the bores - 25- - In the space surrounding the gripper pliers - 1 - so that a flushing process is effected there and, in particular, when the drilling fluid is pressed into the pipe string - 14 - under high pressure, deposits of sand or the like cover the fish to be caught, be washed away.
The liquid then rises again via the annular space that remains free between the pipe string --14-- and the piping --28--.
If the safety gear now finds resistance when the safety gear drops, be it at the bottom of the borehole,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
As a result, the piston slide - 15 - and the closing element - 18 - are also displaced, whereby the openings --22 - in the housing wall are closed by means of the piston slide - 15 - and the drilling fluid can access the working space - 9-- of the piston --2-- is released by the locking link-18-. The pressure of the drilling fluid moves the piston --2-- downwards, whereby a
EMI3.2
Manometer can be seen.
When the piston - 2 - moves downwards, the cone - 3 - closes the gripper - l -. If a fish is now caught between the two tong flanks of the gripper tongs - l -, the pressure in the working space -9-- continues to rise, u. between up to a predetermined, preselected maximum value which corresponds to a desired clamping force of the gripper tongs - l -. The increase in pressure, which can be read on the manometer above, guarantees that the object to be caught is between the gripper flanks of the gripper tongs - l -. By briefly lifting the pipe string --14 - the openings --22 - are released again, so that the drilling fluid is circulated again.
The wedges - 10 - cause the piston --2- to be locked in its lower end position, whereby the clamping is supported by the spring --12--. The pipe string - 14 - can now be removed together with the fishing tool and the caught fish, whereby the fishing process is ended.
However, if the fish to be caught was not trapped between the tong flanks of the gripper tongs during the previously described catching process, the piston --2-- is moved downwards so far that additional openings -29-- in the cylinder wall are released. The borehole fluid can now escape through these openings --29 - and a sudden drop in pressure can be detected on the pressure gauge located above. From this manometer display it can be seen that the tong flanks have only made an empty movement and that the fish to be caught was not caught by these tong flanks, so that the catching operation was unsuccessful.
By placing the catching tool on the bottom of the borehole or on the jammed object to be caught, the pipe string - 14 - can be moved downwards by its weight against the force of the spring - 17 - so far that the
EMI3.3
Pipe string moves down. As a result, the wedges - 10 - are also pressed down via the locking element - 18 - and thus the piston - 2 - is unlocked, so that it reaches its upper end position under the action of the spring - 7 - and the gripper --1-- is opened. Thus, by turning the sleeve --27--, the fish caught in the gripper - l-- can be released in a simple manner above ground.
Of course, after this manipulation, the bushing -27- must be turned back into its starting position before the next catching process is initiated.
