 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

The subject of the present invention is a drying chimney for cardboard and other material, with a paternoster plant running through two adjacent chutes, in which cold dry air is supplied to both chutes from below, rises upwards as a result of the increasing warming and there, impregnated with moisture, withdraws freely, in such a way that artificial traction means such as fans, tall chimneys or the like are unnecessary. The invention is illustrated in one embodiment in the drawing, which shows a vertical section through a double-shaft chimney.

The two shafts are open at the top and bottom and can be heated. The paternoster chain is provided with suitable devices for receiving the dry material, which must pass through both shafts.

The cold air entering below takes the amount of heat necessary to increase its temperature from the heating surfaces in the chimney, whereby it remains the same for the essence of the invention whether the heating of the air by lateral heating chambers, as shown, by heating the shafts from the outside or in another Way is achieved.

Sufficient buoyancy is guaranteed by the fact that the cold fresh air

In the drawing, an embodiment of a drying chimney is shown in longitudinal section.

In the drying chimney s; nd two rtikate shafts c. rl arranged adjacent, which are accessible below through entrances a, b and separated from one another by a partition p. Above and below, chain or pulley sheaves e, f are mounted, which carry a paternoster mechanism on the links g, 11 of which the dry material, e.g. B. cardboard i, is hung.

Cold atmospheric air can enter through entrances a and b or directly from below. On the side walls of the channels c, d or in serpentine
Channels Ai on the side of the ascending channels are radiators m in the form of heating pipes,
Ribbed bodies, heating chambers or the like. Provided.

These radiators are best heated with steam from a steam boiler or by a pipe system lying in the course of the steam chimney and heat the air entering from below in such a way that in the same way as it absorbs moisture from the dry material and cools it, it is heated again so that she is able to do more

moved heating material in the adjacent channel d be the case, with the difference that here the air moves in countercurrent to the good.

Each time the material is coated, the air heated by the radiators is cooled down and the air entering from below becomes one piece in a serpentine shape either in cocurrent in one or in countercurrent in the other
