With this arrangement, the operation can be continued without downtime, since it is only necessary to connect a new cooling chamber for defrosting to the pipe 5 by changing flaps and to lock it against 3, but to connect the just defrosted chamber from 5 and to 3 .

An embodiment of the second type is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 in horizontal section and vertical cross section. Here, too, the wet outside air first flows through the non-working chambers, in which the frosted pipe coils are defrosted. Then it is fed into the cooling chambers connected one behind the other in such a way that the effectiveness of the individual cooling chambers increases in sequence and the chamber at the outlet end is the most effective, in such a way that the air finds ever cleaner cooling surfaces and exits completely dried and cleaned.

As can be seen, the system consists of several cooling chambers 9 (I, II-IX) connected to one another to form a closed ring, which are connected to the common feed channel 13 by adjustable flaps 10, while adjustable flaps 11, depending on their setting, connect a Shut off the chamber with the adjacent or with the drainage channel 12. The cooling chambers are connected in series during operation in such a way that the air flows out of the supply duct. M first flows into the chamber to be defrosted and, one after the other, sweeps the cooling coils in all of the following and so is sucked out of the last into the common drainage channel 12, completely dry.

In the example shown, the air enters the duct 13 through the flap 10 behind the queue lux, then first hits the coil 1 in a warm, wet state, which is closed off by the refrigerant line, i.e. has no cooling effect, but is defrosted by the fresh air which is pre-cooled The air then comes into contact with the systems II, III-VIII one after the other and is gradually cooled down to the required temperature and dried at the same time.

The strongest water separations take place on the first pipe coils, which have to be defrosted after a certain time. If System II is then to be defrosted, then
 EMI2.1
line completed and IX turned on and flap 11 changed so that now chamber IX is the last to be swept by the air to be dried.

air is passed through the defrosting chamber under higher pressure and then passed through the remaining parallel-connected cooling chambers together with the remaining fresh air not used for defrosting under low pressure.
