EMI1.1
where R is chlorine, bromine, iodine or trifluoromethyl, RI is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, trifluoromethyl, alkyl with 1 to 5 carbon atoms or alkoxy with 1 or 2 carbon atoms and R2 CC1, CCI CCI H or CCl2CCl2F, which are used to control the Suitable for mushroom growth.
These compounds are therefore N- (trichloromethylthio, tetrachloroethylthio or tetrachlorofluoroethylthio) halo-benzoyl-anilides and can be used as fungicides. The radical R is preferably in the ortho position.
Although the compounds prepared by the process of the present invention are generally active as fungicides, it has been discovered that they are also effective as systemic (intra-therapeutic) toxins and that this complementary property greatly increases their usefulness and versatility in the treatment of fungal infected food plants.
As is known to the person skilled in the art, a systemic biocide is absorbed by the organism that comes into contact with the blocid and deposited in the tissue, with toxicological properties being retained. If the systemic toxins are used to protect food plants, these toxins are not subject to weathering, since they are enclosed in the interstices of the plant tissue, these tissues from the inside against attacks by harmful fungi, dry rot and the like. similar harmful microorganisms are immunized.
According to the invention it is proposed that a sodium amide compound of the general formula

Foliar Fungicide Evaluation Tests
A. Evaluation of preventive measures
1. Bean rust test
The substance to be tested is dissolved in a suitable solvent and diluted with water which contains a few drops of a commercially available polyoxyethylene sorbitol monolaurate wetting agent. The test concentrations, ranging from 1000 ppm downwards, were sprayed onto the primary leaves of the spotted field bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) until they drained off.
After the leaves had dried, they were inoculated with a suspension of spores of the bean rust fungus (Uromyces phaseoli Arthur) in water and the plants were kept in an environment of 100% humidity for 24 hours. The plants were then removed from the humidity chamber and kept on the leaves until the disease pustules appeared. The effectiveness is stated as the lowest concentration in ppm which causes a 50% reduction in pustular formation compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The values are entered in Table II.
EMI4.3
The test fabric was prepared and applied in the same manner as in the bean rust test. After the plants had dried, the leaves were dusted with spores from the powdery mildew test (Erysiphe polygonl De Candolle).
The plants were kept in the greenhouse until fungal growth appeared on the leaf surfaces. The efficacy is given as the lowest concentration in ppm that has a 50% re-

activity. The plants were then removed from the humidity chamber and kept on the leaves until pathological changes appeared. The effectiveness is given as the lowest concentration in ppm which brings about a 50% reduction in the number of changes formed compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The values are given in Table II.
4. Cattle grass leaf spot
The test fabric was prepared and applied in the same manner as in the bean rust test, using four-week-old Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) as host plants. After the leaves were dried, they were inoculated with a water suspension of spores of the cattle spore fungus (Helminthosporium sativum) and kept in a 100% humidity environment for 48 hours. The plants were then removed from the humidity chamber and kept on the leaves until pathological changes appeared. The potency is given as the lowest concentration in ppm which causes a 50% reduction in the number of changes formed compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The values are given in Table n.
B. Evaluation of therapeutic measures
1. Bean rust test
Untreated bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were inoculated with spores of the bean rust fungus (Uromyces phaseoli Arthur) and kept in a 100% humidity environment for 24 hours. The plants were then removed from the humidity cabinet and kept in the greenhouse for two days to allow disease to occur. The test substance was then prepared and applied in the same way as for the bean rust test in the evaluation of preventive measures. The curative potency is reported as the lowest concentration in ppm that causes a 50% reduction in the number of pustules that appear on the leaves compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The values are given in Table n.
2. Powdered bean powder mildew test
Spotted field bean plants in the untreated state were dusted with spores of powdery mildew fungus (Erysiphe polygon De Candolle) and kept in the greenhouse until mycelia growth appeared on the leaf surfaces. The test fabrics were then prepared and applied in the same manner as for the bean rust test. Four days later, the leaves were examined for the prevention of further mycelial growth. The therapeutic efficacy is reported as the lowest concentration in ppm that causes a 50% reduction in viable, spore-forming mycelia compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The values are given in Table II.

C. Evaluation of the systemic measures in test tubes
1. Bean rust test
The test substance was dissolved in a suitable solvent and diluted with tap water to a series of decreasing concentrations starting at 50 ppm. 60 ml of each concentration was placed in a test tube. A spotted field bean plant (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) was placed in each tube and supported with a cotton plug so that only the roots and the lower stem were in contact with the test solution.
48 hours later, the bean leaves were inoculated with a water suspension of spores of the bean rust fungus (Uromyces phaseoli Arthur) and kept in a 100% humidity environment for 24 hours. The

Plants were then removed from the humidity chamber and kept in the greenhouse until the disease pustules appeared on the leaves. The effectiveness is given as the lowest concentration in ppm which brings about a 50% reduction in pustular formation compared to untreated inoculated plants. The results are given in Table III. i 2. Bean powder mildew test The test material was prepared and used in the same way as in the bean rust test.
After two days, the leaves were dusted with spores of powdery mildew fungus (Erysiphe polygoni De Candolle) and kept in the greenhouse until mycelia appeared on the leaf surfaces. The effectiveness is given as the lowest concentration in ppm which causes a 50% reduction in mycelial growth on the leaf surfaces compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The results are shown in Table m.
D. Evaluation of the systemic measures in soaked soil 1. Bean rust test Spotted field beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were allowed to grow in 0.5 l ice cream boxes, each of which contained 0.45 kg soil. Equal parts of the test substance were dissolved in a suitable solvent, diluted with 25 ml of water and the soil surface was soaked with it. Two days later, the bean leaves were inoculated with a water suspension of spores of the bean rust fungus (Uromyces phaseoli Arthur) and the plants were kept in an environment with 100% humidity for 24 hours. The plants were then removed from the humidity chamber and kept in the greenhouse until the pustules appeared on the leaves.
The effectiveness is given as the lowest concentration in ppm that causes a 50% reduction in the number of pustules compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The results are given in Table III.
2. Powdered bean powder mildew test The bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and the substances were prepared and applied in the same way as in the bean rust test, evaluating the systemic measures in soaked soil. After ten days, the bean leaves were dusted with spores of powdery mildew fungus (Erysiphe phaseoli Arthur) and kept in the greenhouse until mycelia appeared on the leaf surfaces. The effectiveness is stated as the lowest concentration in ppm which causes a 50% reduction in mycelial growth on the leaf surface compared to untreated, inoculated plants. The results are given in Table IH.
