  Verfahren zur Herstellung   künstlichen   Marmors und künstlicher Steine. 



   Vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung künstlichen   Marmors   und künstlicher Steine durch Einwirkung von   Kohlensäuregas   auf Kalk. 



   Es ist allerdings bereits bekannt, geformte   Kalkblöcke   in luftleer gemachten Behältern oder Kammern der Einwirkung von Kohlensäuregas auszusetzen, um dadurch eine Härtung der Blöcke zu erzielen. Hiebei wurde aber das Kohlensäuregas in den   die Blöcke     aufnehmenden Behälter   stets unter Druck hineingetrieben und dieser Druck auch während der fortschreitenden Absorption der Kohlensäure durch den Kalk aufrechterhalten, bezw. von Zeit zu Zeit erhöht. 



   Nach vorliegender Erfindung kommt nun das   Kohtensäuregas   nicht unter Druck zur Verwendung ; vielmehr wird in den die zu behandelnden Blöcke oder Platten von Kalk

 Drucke von 70 mm Quecksilbersäule entsprechend mittels einer Pumpe hergestellt worden ist, das Kohlensäuregas nur so lange eingeleitet, bis ein wohl bedeutend höherer, aber noch   immer   wesentlich unterhalb des Atmospharendruckes liegender Druck z. B. ein solcher von etwa 630 mm Quecksilbersäule, im Inneren dos Behälters zustande gekommen ist.

 durch das   anfänglich   zugeleitete Gas hervorgerufene Druck sich verringert, wird immer   wieder Gas zuströmen gelassen,   um solcherart den in dem Behälter durch die ursprüngliche Gaszufuhr erreichten, jedoch stets noch subatmosphärischen Druck, möglichst aufrechtzuerhalten. 



     Sobald das im Behälter   vorhandene Vakuum eine Zunahme nicht mehr aufweist, ist die Einwirkung der Kohlensäure auf die Blöcke oder Platten beendet und   dieselben können   herausgenommen werden.
