The invention relates to a device for sharpening pencil and compass leads with a motor-driven grinding wheel, which is accommodated in a preferably transparent housing, in which openings for guiding the lead to be pointed are provided.
At present devices for sharpening mines are known, the rotating body (grinding body) of which is not displaceable in the axial direction, and in which the pen to be sharpened with the aid of a feed device, which under the action of at least one
Spring stands, can be pressed against the rotating body. The disadvantage of these known devices can be seen, inter alia, in the fact that the feed device is arranged on the outside, so that the operation of the device is complicated. In addition, in these known mine sharpeners, the parts ground down by the mine to be sharpened are not collected in one housing.
The last-mentioned disadvantage also applies to the devices for sharpening mines known from US Pat. No. 774, 880 and DE-PS No. 24413.
A device for sharpening mines of the aforementioned type is known from CH-PS No. 602360. In this device, the grinding wheel is housed in a housing, but grinding dust remains on the lead and has to be removed outside the device in order to avoid contamination.
The invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned, with which both pencil and compass leads can be sharpened accordingly and with the help of which it is possible to remove dust from the sharpened mine.
In solving this problem, the device for sharpening pencil or compass leads of the type mentioned at the outset is characterized in that a strip of fiber material, in particular felt, is arranged on the circumference of the grinding wheel and that one of the openings in the housing is opposite the circumference of the grinding wheel flows out.
When using the device according to the invention, not only is it possible to sharpen pencil or circular leads properly, but the grinding dust adhering to the lead can also be removed inside the device if the pointed lead is inserted into the opening in the housing of the device, which is the strip opens out of fiber material opposite.
Further details of the invention are explained below with reference to the exemplary embodiment of a device according to the invention shown in section in the drawing.
The device shown in the drawing is switched on by pressing the -l-key, so that a grinding wheel --2-- in attached to the shaft of the motor --3-- with the help of the screw --5-- Rotation offset. The tip of the lead --4-- of a pencil is then pushed into the housing --12-- through an opening in the housing --12-- of the device and pressed against the grinding wheel --2--, on the top of which a sandpaper --7-- is arranged. By turning the pencil, its lead can be pointed --4-- conically.
If the mine --4-- is to be ground at an angle, the mine is --4-- by another

After completion of the grinding process, d. H. if the lead --4-- has been sharpened as desired, the lead --4-- is inserted through a third opening --9-- in the housing --12-- and against one at the edge of the grinding wheel - 2-- arranged strips --8-- made of felt, so that grinding dust is removed from the mine --4--.
To replace a battery --18--, which supplies the motor --3-- with power, if

the battery is removed in the direction of the arrow --27-- and replaced with a new battery.
