<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to an insulation device for fittings, preferably cold water fittings, with an insulation body surrounding the fitting, provided on the outside with a vapor barrier and covered by a sheet metal cap, opposite the one connected to the fitting
Pieces of pipe or their insulation is sealed and has a passage opening for the actuating spindle of the valve.
When insulating on cold water or ice water fittings, it is known to use tubular semi

Fill in segments etc. or pour hot when using cork half-shells with cork flour bitumen or a tar cement mixture. A vapor barrier is then applied to the outer surface of the insulating body thus obtained as a filler, e.g. B. bitumen spatula, applied and
Insulation covered with a sheet metal cap.
Furthermore, it is known to arrange a sheet metal insulating cap corresponding to the desired insulation thickness around the fitting and to fill the sheet metal insulating cap with polyurethane foam through holes provided therein.
A disadvantage here is the relatively large amount of space required when installing these insulations, which causes major problems, particularly in the case of fittings which are arranged to be difficult to access. If the cavity between the half-shells and the fitting is not completely filled, this occurs
Condensation in the insulation body, which both reduces the insulation value and promotes corrosion.
Object of the invention. is to provide an insulation device for fittings that this
Disadvantages eliminated.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the insulating body consists of a between the
Inserted connecting flanges and leaving the spindle head free, prefabricated, preferably two-part core insulation shell with a contour-shaped inside and flange-flush outside, one placed on the core insulation shell, covering the flanges of the connected pipe pieces and leaving the spindle head free, preferably two-part, prefabricated and a final insulation shell compared to this sealed removable spindle head insulation cap with a passage opening for the actuating spindle. This training enables a quick insulation of the space between the flanges with the extensive exclusion of
Sources of error such as assembly errors and the formation of cavities.
When laying wet with adhesive (e.g. rubber cement), a tight seal and bulkhead formation between the flanges is achieved with cold water insulation with mineral wool products. The cavity filling achieved as a result of the contour-shaped core insulation shell largely eliminates condensate formation, which reduces the insulation value and promotes corrosion, and avoids a pumping effect in alternating operation.
Due to the double-shell design, core insulation shell and cover insulation shell, it can also be installed on fittings that are difficult to access and require little space. Furthermore, the insulation thickness can be adapted to the requirements influenced by the temperature and the space available without additional molding costs, since the same flange-flush core insulation shell can always be used for the same fitting type and the thickness of the cover insulation shell can be selected according to the available space. Due to the separately prefabricated and z.
B. with permanently plastic putty sealed spindle head insulation cap (stuffing box part) and the easily removable sheet metal cap is an easy way for the operator to check the tightness in this area (leakage of leakage, etc.) and a simple and cost-saving, because largely non-destructive implementation of the insulation Repair and revision work on the glands and the valve sealing surfaces given.
The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. The drawing shows a section through a fitting insulated with an insulation device according to the invention and inserted between two pipe sections.
This valve can be, for example, a spool-l-, on the mounting flanges --2, 3-- of which a piece of pipe --4, 5-- is attached with its respective flange --6, 7--.
Each of the two pipe sections --4, 5-- is provided with insulation --8, 9--, which is made of mineral wool and has a vapor barrier attached to the outside, e.g. B. an aluminum foil.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Between the two mounting flanges --2 and 3-- of the spool --1-- is a contour-shaped, flange-flush prefabricated core insulation shell --10-- inserted, which preferably consists of two half-shells, each with a contour-shaped, on the housing of the
Piston spool --1-- fitted inside --11-- and a flange-flush outside --12--. The spindle head --13-- of the spool --1-- protrudes from the core insulation shell - 10--. A prefabricated cover insulation shell --14-- is placed on the core insulation shell --10--, which preferably consists of two half-shells and has an opening for the spindle head.
The cover insulation shell --14-- covers the flanges --2, 6 or 3, 7-- and compared to the insulation --8 or 9-- of the pipe sections --4 or 5-- at --15 or 16-- sealed. A prefabricated spindle head insulation cap --17-- with a passage opening for the actuating spindle is placed on the deck insulation shell --14-- and sealed with a permanently plastic spray putty --18-- against the deck insulation shell --14--. The outside of the deck insulation shell --14- and the spindle head insulation cap --17-- is provided with a vapor barrier --19--.
The entire insulation body is covered by an easily removable sheet metal cap --20-- equipped with lever clamps.
Polyurethane foam is preferred as the material for the prefabricated core insulation shell, while the prefabricated cover insulation shell or the spindle head insulation cap preferably consist of polystyrene or polyurethane.
Of course, the core insulation shell and the cover insulation shell can also consist of more than 2 partial shells.
