Beim Reduzieren des Druckes von etwa 140 Atm. auf 30 cm Wasserdruck erhält man einen Temperaturabfall bis zu 700 C, so dass, wenn das dem Kühler zugeführte Gas eine anfängliche Temperatur von + 500C besitzt, es den Kühler mit einer Temperatur von - 200 C yerlassen würde. Bei geschlossenem Ventil 34 bleibt das gesättigte, von der Überkarburierung befreite Gas im Rohr 33 und im Gasometer 8 getrennt, von dem Gase der Leitung 27, welches noch nicht karburiert ist.
