Device for redesigning typesetting machines for different fonts.

Devices for redesigning typesetting machines for different fonts are already known, which consist of an auxiliary keyboard which is congruent with the keyboard of the typesetting machine and which is placed on the main keyboard by means of side tabs. However, these devices have the disadvantage that the individual keys are not mounted elastically and consequently do not fold back when they are pressed down and first have to be lifted. This fact impairs the usability of the device to a great extent.

On typewriters, where each key is used to print two characters and the keys have to be shifted to the right or left depending on the type to be printed, the use of resilient keys has already been proposed, but it is not known to use the auxiliary keyboards for the To store font changes on typesetting machines elastically.

The subject of the present invention are innovations in devices of the type mentioned, in which the individual keys are mounted elastically to avoid the above-mentioned nuisance. Other innovations relate to the special design of the elastic storage, respectively. on a device to increase the effect.

Use bayonet locks, each key consists of the two cylinders g and e, which are guided into one another and are pushed into one another when you tap the probe head, whereupon the pin i, respectively. the rubber rings attached to the lower end k the original keys! the setting machine. As soon as the finger is lifted from the key, the head h returns to its original position due to the expansion of the helical spring m compressed during the decline. Instead of the rubber rings k, other rings made of elastic material can of course also be used.

It is only essential. that they, by virtue of their elasticity, alleviate the shock,

PATENT CLAIMS: EMI1.4 <Desc / Clms Page number 2> 2. Embodiment of the keys in the device according to claim 1, characterized by two telescoping cylinders (e, g) and a coil spring (m) arranged within the same which returns the same to its original position after the pressure exerted on the probe head has ceased. 3. EMI2.1 3. Embodiment of the button according to claim 2, characterized by the arrangement of an elastic ring (k) on the lower Tastercnde, which on the one hand increases the elasticity, on the other hand serves as a silencer and protects the probe head located below.
