Abstract

Arrangement for the wire-free transmission of coded information signals from a portable input device to a personal computer, where a cordless telephone known per se is used as the input device, the base part of which cordless telephone is connected to an interface circuit which decodes the code characters transmitted by actuation of the call number pushbuttons and converts them into characters that can be processed by the personal computer.

Hiezu 1 Blatt Zeichnungen 2AT 400 651 B The invention relates to an arrangement for the wireless transmission of coded information signals from a portable input device to a personal computer. From DE-OS 3 627 446 an arrangement for the wireless transmission of information signals between a computer with a downstream interface circuit and at least one non-stationary (portable) unit is known. This arrangement is particularly designed for use in catering. DE-PS 3 215 035 describes a method for transmitting the order of food and / or drinks received by the waiter at the guest's table in catering establishments to the place provided for the execution of the order by means of a signal transmission system which includes a receiving device and a portable terminal Contains a reader, the orders placed verbally by the guest are entered into the portable device by the waiter, and the signals are fed to a computer. The object of the invention is to provide a simpler and less expensive arrangement for the wireless transmission of coded information signals, also preferably for catering establishments. This object is achieved in that a cordless telephone known per se is used as the input device, the base part of which is connected to an interface circuit which decodes the code characters transmitted by actuating the number keys and converts them into characters which can be processed by the personal computer. Hiebei should be noted that in the arrangement according to the invention, the cordless telephone is used only for the transmission of data. Calls are not transmitted so that there is no telephone system. The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of a drawing. The interface first emulates a telephone network for the connected end device of a commercially available cordless telephone (approx. 60 V DC voltage, a b lines). Voltage drop (" lifting / hanging up ") is passed on to the CPU as an interrupt, the dialing tones (MFW) are decoded, digitized and also sent to the CPU. The ASCII characters corresponding to the information contents (dialing key sequence) are output serially to the personal computer via RS-232 drivers. Signs received by the personal computer can in turn be used to apply alternating voltage to the telephone line a, b via the telephone network emulation, which in turn triggers the ringing in the handset of the cordless telephone. 1. Arrangement for the wireless transmission of coded information signals from a portable input device to a personal computer, characterized in that a known cordless telephone is used as the input device, the base part of which is connected to an interface circuit which transmits the code characters emitted by actuating the number keys decoded and converted into characters that can be processed by the personal computer.
