Abstract

What is described is an apparatus for needling a nonwoven, with at least one needle board 2 capable of being driven back and forth in the pricking direction 6 and with a nonwoven guide consisting of a stitch base 4 located opposite the needle board 2 and of a stripper 5 provided between the stitch base 4 and the needle board 2. In order to provide advantageous design conditions, it is proposed that, in the pricking region, on that surface of at least the stitch base 4 which faces the nonwoven, the nonwoven guide should have portions 8 which are distributed in a way known per se over the working width and are inclined relative to the pricking direction 6 on different sides transversely to the nonwoven run-through direction 7, and that oppositely inclined surface portions 8 should succeed one another in the nonwoven run-through direction 7. <IMAGE>

Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   The invention relates to a device for needling a nonwoven fabric with at least one needle bed that can be driven back and forth in the puncturing direction and with a nonwoven guide consisting of a needle bed opposite the needle bed and a stripper provided between the needle bed and the needle bed.

   In order to achieve a higher strength when needling a nonwoven, it is known not to insert the needles into the nonwoven at an angle to the nonwoven in the direction of passing through the nonwoven. For this purpose, the fleece guide formed from the stitch pad and the scraper forms an inlet section rising in the fleece flow direction and an outlet section falling in the opposite direction, which is connected to the inlet section by a transition section which is not in the needle region.

   Accordingly, the needle bed, which can be driven back and forth in the puncturing direction, is shaped like a roof and only carries needles in the area of the oppositely inclined sections, which pierce the fleece in the area of the inlet and outlet sections of the fleece guide, due to the rising or falling fleece guide or inclined against the direction of web travel. In addition to the fact that, due to the needles being limited to one entry and one exit area, only comparatively low puncture densities can be achieved, which prevents a greater increase in strength a loss of transverse strength can be expected.

   In addition, for cross-profiling a nonwoven web (DD 234 043 A 1), it is known to profile the underlay transverse to the direction of flow of the nonwoven web in accordance with the later nonwoven profile, so that there are inclined sections transversely to the direction of the nonwoven through the puncturing direction.

   This cross-profiling of the stitch underlay brings about an undesirable deformation of the nonwoven web for many applications, without increasing its transverse strength.

   However, since in many applications emphasis is placed on a high transverse strength of the nonwoven, the object of the invention is to improve a device for needling a nonwoven of the type described at the outset using simple constructional means so that non-profiled nonwovens with a high transverse strength are produced can.

   The invention achieves the stated object in that the fleece guide in the puncture area on the surface facing the fleece has at least the stitch base, in a manner known per se, distributed over the working width and has inclined sections transversely to the fleece flow direction in relation to the puncturing direction and that oppositely inclined surface sections in Follow the fleece flow direction.

   Since the fleece is pressed against the stitch pad when the needles are inserted, puncture channels in the fleece are inclined in the area of the surface sections inclined transversely to the puncturing direction, which due to the successive surface sections in the fleece flow direction with opposite tendency to cross-needle needling of the fleece and This leads to a greater matting in the direction of the working width, i.e. across the direction of the passage, without forcing the fleece to undergo permanent deformation. The successive, oppositely inclined sections of the stitch underlay in the direction of nonwoven passage require a directional effect on the nonwoven.

   The pull-off resistance of the fleece is determined by the cross slope of the surface sections of the
 EMI1.1
 stretch. Although only the surface of the stitch pad facing the fleece needs to be equipped with such differently inclined sections due to the puncture conditions, it can be advantageous in certain cases to also form the surface of the scraper facing the fleece with sections inclined in opposite directions in accordance with the stitch pad Ensure that the needle conditions are adjusted to suit the puncture conditions.

   With a special sequence of differently inclined surface sections transverse to the direction of the fleece flow, the cross-consolidation of the fleece can be adapted to the respective requirements over the working width. In addition, the width of the surface sections can be used to influence the cant of the stitch base caused by the inclination of the sections and thus to take into account the available needle length. In order to avoid an unnecessary construction effort, the needle bed should have a straight extension transverse to the direction of the fleece.

   If, in addition to the inclined surface sections to the puncturing direction, essentially vertical surface sections are provided, particularly advantageous transverse consolidations can be achieved, in particular if these surface sections which are essentially perpendicular to the puncturing direction precede or pass the inclined surface sections in the nonwoven direction. are subordinate, so that the needling is at an inclination angle inclined with respect to the fleece with the usual

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 vertical needling overlaps.

   The individual differently inclined surface sections can be
 EMI2.1
 Cutting can also be facilitated by assembling the stitch pad from several individual parts that have certain groups of surface sections. Particularly advantageous conditions result in this context if the surface sections which follow one another in the web flow direction and are differently inclined are provided on separate parts of the stitch underlay. A suitable combination of such stitch support parts can influence the needling result.

   The subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing, for example. 1 shows a device according to the invention for needling a nonwoven in a simplified, schematic side view, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the stitch base of a device according to the invention, and FIG. 3 shows a detail of a stitch base according to the invention in section transversely to the direction of the web flow on a larger scale.

   The device shown consists according to FIG. 1 in the usual way of at least one needle bed 2 held in a needle bar 1, the needles 3 of which are inserted into a fleece guided between a stitch support 4 and a stripper 5. The needle support 4 and the stripper 5 are designed as perforated plates for the needle passage. In contrast to conventional fleece guides, the stitch pad 4 of the illustrated fleece guide has a surface facing the fleece with sections 8 which are inclined at different angles to the puncturing direction 6 transversely to the fleece flow direction 7, with successive sections 8 being inclined in opposite directions in the fleece flow direction 7.

   According to the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 3, the surface sections 8 alternately form guide surfaces 9 and 10 which are inclined in opposite directions, and which extend in the direction of web travel 7, for the web, which is pressed onto the guide surfaces 9 and 10 at least when the needle is inserted, so that the needles 3 despite the constant insertion movement penetrate into the nonwoven at different angles, which results in a cross-matting which significantly improves the transverse strength of the nonwoven when guiding surfaces 9, 10 inclined in opposite directions follow one another in the nonwoven passage direction 7. As can be seen directly from FIG. 3, different cross-profiling of the underlay 4 can influence the achievable cross-strengthening of the fleece and also the distribution of strength over the width of the waist.

   The design, shape and distribution of the differently inclined surface sections can be adapted to the respective requirements in a variety of ways, since the only thing that matters is an appropriate transverse inclination of differently inclined surface sections of the stitch pad 4, which are distributed over the working width, for puncture channels which run inclined transversely to the fleece direction of travel 7 to take care of in the fleece.

   In order to easily achieve the succession of differently inclined surface sections 8 in the direction of the nonwoven web, the stitch pad 4 can have a row 11 of surface sections 8 that are alternately inclined and oriented transversely to the vertical direction 7, which is followed by another row 12 of differently inclined surface sections 8 in the web direction 7 with the stipulation that surface sections 8 inclined at least partially in opposite directions follow one another in the non-woven direction 7.

   The surface sections 8 of the row 11 can have a cross section, for example
 EMI2.2
 required, but structurally simple, matching profiling of the rows 11 and 12, this means that the two rows 11 and 12 must be offset from one another, as is indicated in FIG. 3 by the dash-dotted line for the section row 12. The rows 11 and 12 with inclined surface sections 8 can be followed by a flat surface section 13 of the stitch base 4, so that the crosswise needling is supplemented by conventional needling perpendicular to the fleece surface. The surface sections 8 of the rows 11 and 12 can be formed by a common perforated plate.

   However, it is also possible to use separate plate parts for the individual rows 11, 12 and section 13 of the stitch pad, which has advantages with regard to the manufacture of the stitch pad 4. In addition, in the case of a consecutive arrangement of needle boards in the non-woven direction 7, these can each be assigned a corresponding part of a stitch pad.

   The transverse strength of a nonwoven to be needled can be influenced in a variety of ways with the surface sections 8 which are inclined transversely to the direction of nonwoven 7. If the longitudinal strength is also to be increased, the nonwoven guide can be curved in the nonwoven passage direction 7, in that both the puncture underground 4 and the stripper 5 are designed to be curved accordingly. There are similarly advantageously inclined puncture channels, but in the direction of the nonwoven web.
