Process for distilling, evaporating, heating or cooling liquids.
The invention extends to a method for distilling, evaporating, heating or cooling liquids using nested tubular columns through which the evaporant or coolant flows directly. According to the invention, the liquid to be treated already undergoes a pretreatment during its rise in one of the spaces formed by the nested tubular columns by the evaporation or coolant driven through it, and then at the highest point through an overflow on the wall of the other space run down again in a thin layer, whereby it is subjected to an aftertreatment by the evaporant or coolant now fed in countercurrent thereto.
Here, the pre-steam or coolant first penetrates freely through the rising liquid in cocurrent and comes into close contact with the liquid molecules. The liquid falls, after it has risen high enough, over the dividing wall of the two rooms and is pulled apart into a thin downward flowing layer to which the evaporative or coolant is now fed in countercurrent. The treatment of the liquid during the rising and falling is a very intensive one, and because the length of the liquid path is used twice, the apparatus used is comparatively small.
The drawing illustrates three exemplary embodiments of apparatus in a schematic representation. In Fig. 1, the inner tubular body is used to receive the liquid to be treated.
In Fig. 2, the annular space formed between the inner and outer tubular body serves this purpose. The device according to FIG. 3 corresponds to that of FIG. 1, with the difference that the inner tubular body is also provided with a special heating or cooling jacket.
In the apparatus according to FIG. 1, the liquid to be treated enters the inner tubular body 6 through the tube a, rises in this up to the overflow d, passes over this between the walls of the inner and outer tubular body b and e into the of this formed annular space m by running down on the outer wall of b in a thin layer, and

Meanwhile, the evaporative or coolant enters through the shower g, flows through the liquid in the inner pipe and enters the other part through the pipe / t and brushes against the thin

The exhaust gases and vapors of the inner pipe body escape directly through the connection i at the top, while those of the annular part between the two pipe bodies also get into the inner pipe through openings above the overflow d and from here to the end i A separate discharge is also possible for openings.
With insignificant changes it would of course also be possible to give the liquid to be treated a reverse path, so that it first reaches the outer annular space m and through the overflow d into the inner pipe body and from there through the nozzle f to the drain ( Fig. 2). The introduction of the evaporative or coolant could also be effected here by means of showers and pipe connections 9 and A in the same way.
