Description

Steam condensation system with combined wet and dry air pumps.

The invention relates to the supply of cooling water for injection into the suction lines of so-called dry air pumps of condensers for high vacuum for cooling the air and condensing part of the steam, and particularly in connection with dry air tipping pens that empty into the wet pump under its upper valves.

If this cooling water line is diverted from the hot water tank or the feed tank, the water has the feed water temperature and is under atmospheric pressure and the air it contains is therefore also under this temperature and under this pressure. The introduction of this water into the vacuum system would therefore have no effect except for the air contained in the water, as this would have to be pumped out of the system again.

The only point where air is not contained in the feed water is in the lower part of the condenser, but it is not practical to use this water because it is. in order to cool it with an effective cooler, it would have to be pumped through the cooler, because otherwise the speed of flow through or over the cooling pipes could only be that which is achieved by the expansion of the heat that the water possessed above the cooler and it it is particularly inexpedient to place the cooler under the condensers on warships.

Such an arrangement would therefore require a large cooler, since the type of heat transfer is very dependent on the flow rate and this rate could not be achieved without a heat difference.

This cooling water supply can, however, z. B. can be derived from the receiving space between the wet and dry compound pump. In this sensor, the water is between atmospheric and condenser pressure and the amount of air in the water is in the ratio of the pressures. A sensor or a chamber is expediently arranged on the housing above the upper valve of the dry air pump, which is located in relation to the line leading to the dry pump such that it fills with water. before the water empties into the wet pump.

A tube leads the water from the lower part of the sensor to a tube cooler around which cold water flows, which is taken directly from the sea on ships, for example. After the water has passed through the cooler, it can pass through a control valve into the suction line of the dry air pump. Since this injection cooling water is increased by the condensation of the steam in the air pump, the sensor always remains full, but it can be topped up for starting through a line that leads to it from the hot water tank of the wet pump.

The speed of the flow of cooling water through the cooler depends on the pressure differences between the suction line of the dry air pump and the transducer and if this pressure difference is too small to cause the required flow rate, the check valve between the two pumps can be spring-loaded Weight or the like. Loaded in order to generate the required pressure difference.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, the condenser A is connected to the wet and dry pumps D and E. These pumps are actuated by a steam cylinder, the piston rod If of which with the plunger rod D, the wet pump D and

connected is. Of course, the pump can also be driven electrically or in some other way. The wet air pump D is connected to the condenser A through the suction line B and the dry air pump E through the suction line 0. The wet air pump is equipped with the foot valves G, the piston valves H and the upper valves K and with a drain line 0.

The dry air pump can be emptied through the line F and the check valve L into the upper cover of the wet air pump through the channel LI below the upper valves K.

A receiver Nier a chamber X is provided on the evacuation part F of the dry air pump E; it is arranged so that only air enters the line F, while the water collects in the lower part of the chamber X. From there, the water flows through line Q to a tubular cooler P and from there through a line T and a valve V to the suction end of the dry air pump E. This cooler P is provided with an inflow of circulating cooling water, which is supplied through a line Z and is derived through a line Z.

The flow rate of the water to be cooled in the cooler P depends on the pressure difference above the upper valves of the dry air pump and the suction line or the bottom of this pump; if this difference is too small to generate the necessary water circulation, the check valve L, which is loaded by a spring or a weight, is adjusted so that the pressure difference is increased. M is the spring loading the valve, the tension of which can be adjusted by means of the screw N.

In order to obtain an inflow of water for filling up the cooling system of the dry air pump, a tube R with a valve S can be attached, which comes from the draining end of the wet air pump; if the pump is to be started, this valve S must be opened for a few minutes and then closed, then the injection water flows continuously through the cooler P into the dry air pump E, through this pump and back into the cooler. It should be emphasized that only a separate amount of water moves in this way. The actual injection water that circulates through the system of the dry air pump never mixes with the feed water, so that it cannot be cooled. PATENT CLAIMS: 1.

Steam condensation system with combined wet and dry air pumps, in which the dry pump empties itself into the wet pump under its upper valves, characterized by an injection water tube cooler (P), which is connected to the suction and discharge end of the dry air pump (E), see above that a constant circulation of the injection water through the cooler is maintained by the pressure difference between the suction and discharge ends of the dry air pump and the injection water does not mix with the main part of the condensed water and therefore does not cool it.
