Process for achieving lapis lazuli effects and those of a similar kind on glass.
The method described below makes it possible, in a technically advantageous manner, to give glasses the appearance of lapis lazuli stones respectively. To create effects of a similar kind on the glass surface.
The procedure is carried out as described below:
On the one hand, a mixture of chlorine silver or silvery quota (Vg part) with china clay, kolkotar or other soil (1 part) and sulfur (up to 1/2 part) is produced, on the other hand a mixture of copper vitriol (2 parts), yellow earth (1 Part) Kolkotar (part) and possibly sulfur. These mixtures are then applied to dark blue glasses (cobalt glasses) or to green, yellow, violet glasses next to and on top of one another and at an unevenly high level, so that the entire glass surface appears covered with them.
The object prepared in this way is now fired, but at the highest temperature of about 560 to

Time initiated a reduction, after which, after cooling, the object is washed with water. The object is then briefly etched in a dilute hydrofluoric acid bath or matte acid bath with 1/10 part sulfuric acid and possibly polished.
EMI1.2
The essence of the process consists in removing the topmost layer, which can be done chemically as well as mechanically.
EMI1.3
Bezw by substitution of the metal salts listed here by others for the purpose of glass coloring.
Metal salts and oxides known to glaze and the output of different colored glasses are achieved according to the process according to changed effects.
