In order to be able to apply the layer thicker and to make it more elastic and at the same time cheaper, it is provided with suitable fillers. Examples of such materials are cork flour, asbestos fibers or a mixture thereof, as well as heavy spar, sawdust, coconut fibers or similar materials.,
The mass composed of these substances is applied in a molten state, due to its plastic property, to the wall made of wood or metal or a combination of these two materials in a hot state.
However, in order to enable the mass to adhere securely to the wall of the container made of wood or metal and at the same time to bring about permanent reinforcement of the layer to be applied, ribs running in the vertical direction are arranged according to FIG. 1 of the drawing on the side of the wall to be covered e, between which the mass b can be applied starting from below.
For containers made of cement, it appears expedient, according to FIGS. 2-4 of the drawing, to provide the side to be covered with metal plates c, the edges of which overlap and have ribs or sheet metal strips d bent at an angle on both sides, which both into the cement wall a and into the intervene to be applied layer b by not applying it directly to the cement wall, but to the covering formed by metal sheets. In this way, the drying and hardening of the sealing layer and the cement wall can take place completely independently of one another, each for itself, and mutual detachment of the layer from the wall is also excluded, since both are anchored to one another by the metal sheets and metal strips.
The overlapping joints f of the sheets can also be better sealed by inserting tarred strips of cardboard or canvas. According to FIG. 4, the anchoring could also take place by means of ribs dl pressed through in the shape of a dovetail.
Other devices made of metal can BEZW for reinforcing the Fournierschicht. can be used to connect to the wall, e.g. B. Expanded metal, strong

When containers have been spoken of so far, this does not mean exclusively containers that are free, but should also include masonry rooms, such as. B. cellars, water basins u. Like. Be understood, which are also intended to hold liquids.
