Description

  55524

The invention relates to a heating flange for air preheating in a suction pipe of an internal combustion engine, with at least one meandering heating strip.
EP 1 348 861 A2 discloses a heating flange for preheating air in a suction line of an internal combustion engine, with a meandering heating tape, wherein the heating elements are unwound so that kinks arise, which ensures the directional, predetermined change in position with increase in length of the legs of the heating tape ,
Further Heizflansche with meandering curved heating bands are known from the publications DE 195 15 533 AI and EP 1 559 901 A2.

The individual loops of each heating band are arranged parallel to one another in such a way that they produce the lowest possible flow resistance for the air flowing through.
Particularly in the case of intake pipes in which an exhaust gas recirculation line opens, high turbulence for mixing the intake air is desirable in order to achieve equal supply of the cylinders with recirculated exhaust gas.

However, such a mixing can not be achieved with conventional heating flanges, since smooth heating bands act as flow rectifiers and favor a laminar flow.
The object of the invention is to develop a heating flange of the type mentioned in such a way that in the simplest possible way, a high turbulence for the sucked gases is achieved.
According to the invention, this is made possible by the fact that the heating tape has at least one flow disturbance point which can be arranged at least in the region of an upstream and / or downstream edge of the heating tape. The Strömungsstörstelle is preferably formed by a local discontinuity of the heating tape, and / or by a local deformation of the heating tape.

It is particularly advantageous if the flow disturbance is designed as a disturbing edge.
The heating tape can have a plurality of flow disturbance points, which are arranged uniformly or non-uniformly or partially distributed on the heating tape.
In the case of a plurality of heating bands arranged one behind the other in the flow direction, it can be provided that each heating band has at least one flow disturbance location. The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to FIGS.
1 shows a heating flange according to the invention in a plan view, FIG. 2 shows a heating tape in a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 shows the heating tape in a section according to the line III-III in FIG. 1.
The heating flange 1 comprises a frame 2, on the inside of which carrier elements 3, 4 are arranged for a meander-shaped heating cable 5.

Reference numerals 6 and 7 electrical connections for the heating tape 5 are designated.
Fig. 1 shows the heating flange 1 in, or against the flow direction of the sucked air. The individual layers 5a of the heating tape 5 are arranged substantially parallel to one another at a defined distance, so that the supplied air can flow through between the layers 5a. In the case of conventional heating flanges, this produces a certain degree of rectification of the air, which impedes or prevents good mixing with sensed exhaust gases fed in upstream or downstream of the heating flange 1. In order to achieve a thorough mixing of the sensed exhaust gas with the intake air in the heating flange 1 shown in Fig. 1 Strömungsstörstellen 6 in the heating strip 5 are provided.

The flow disturbances 6 are formed as local discontinuities, for example by local deformations of the heating strip 5, wherein advantageously disturbing edges 6a may be provided for the flow. The flow disturbances 6 may be formed by pressing, stamping or stamping. This operation is performed, for example, before the heating tape 5 is bent meandering. The flow disturbance points 6 can be evenly, unevenly or partially distributed on the heating tape 5. The size of the flow disturbances 6 is dependent on the desired effect. This can be determined by prediction or in trial.

In order to achieve a high turbulence T of the flow S and thus a good mixing of the sensed exhaust gas with the supplied air, it is advantageous if the flow disturbance points 6 are arranged at least in the region of the downstream edge 7 of the heating strip 5. Additionally or alternatively, however, the flow disturbance points 6 can also be provided in the area of an upstream edge of the heating strip 5.
The optimum mixing of the fresh air with the recirculated exhaust gas ensures that the individual cylinders each receive the same amount of recirculated exhaust gas.
