  Schornstein.

  Chimney.

Numerous chimney attachments have become known, all of which have received their intended purpose according to the task of promoting or securing the draft of the chimney and only incidentally cause a dilution or dissolution of the exhaust gas flow from the chimney. They mostly form hoods or attachments that are perforated at the side and covered at the top.

In a completely different way, the device to be described here, without influencing the draft conditions of the chimney in a favorable or unfavorable sense, is supposed to accomplish a multiple division and resolution of the exhaust gas flow, which is to be adapted to the particular case, by dividing the chimney into several different heights horizontal, ring-shaped or disk-shaped cutouts broken down.

Like FIGS. 1 and 2 in elevation and FIG. 3 schematically in plan without any further
 EMI1.1
each of which rises considerably above the one that follows on the outside.

As a result, the exhaust gas masses are to be divided into several parts and these are gradually transferred to the atmosphere at different levels. so to a certain extent from one
 EMI1.2
parts of the flowing wind is accomplished in every direction of flow. If the pipes are made of thin-walled material (sheet metal, clay or wood), they do not cause any constriction of the overall cross-section, which is a practical consideration. Otherwise, the mouth of the exhaust duct (chimney, etc.) can be expanded accordingly at the point where the device is attached.

The attachment can be carried out in any way and is therefore not indicated in the schematic drawing. Fig. 3 is only indicated by the cross-cut diameters how the pipes can be firmly connected by means of transverse walls or rods without inhibiting the movement of the exhaust gas. Such walls can, however, also be attached obliquely to the vertical direction as guide vanes "for a rotating movement of the gases.

The dashed lines in FIG. 1 are intended to differentiate, as in special cases, where this appears expedient, the tubes also have different inward expansion
