 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 EMI2.1

  Device for cutting out embroidery.

Devices for cutting out embroidery are known; in the same, the knife is arranged at an immovable distance from a table top during cutting; Items of goods in which the thickness of the basic material is different, as well as those in which the thickness of the basic material changes, either not at all or only in a special way! Setting the knife to be cut out.

With the new machine, pieces of goods of any thickness can be cut out quickly and without any damage.

Several versions of the new device are shown in the drawing. 1 shows an elevation and FIG. 2 shows a horizontal section along the line x-x of FIG. 1 of the first exemplary embodiment; Fig. 3 is an elevation of the second embodiment, Fig. 4: an elevation
 EMI1.1
show the latter in working condition.

In Figs. 1 and 2, 1 denotes a bracket with a base plate and a support plate 2 for the goods. In a bearing 3 of this bracket, the knife carrier shaft 4 is guided, which carries the knife carrier 5 at its lower end; the knife 70 directed obliquely to the table top 2 is attached to this by means of a clamping plate 7 and screws 8. The cutting edge of the latter does not fully reach the table top in the lowest position.

An arm 11 is firmly seated on the knife carrier shaft above the knife carrier and has an attachment at its front end to which a pressure plate 72 is hinged.

The arm 11 also has a projection 13 with a sensor 14 hinged to it; one end of this rests on the table top 2, while the other end rests on an arm 15 of a cutter 77 articulated at 16 on the arm 11: the purpose of the latter will be explained later. A spring 18 acting on the arm 15 tends to push the cutting edge downward, d. H. to turn its tip into an opening provided in the table top.
 EMI1.2
with the effect that the pressure plate 12, the knife carrier shaft 4, as well as the knife carrier 5 and the knife 10 are raised by equal amounts.

With the bar 27 raised, the embroidered fabric is placed under the pressure plate 12 with the unembroidered part of the joint, then the bar 21 is lowered and then the embroidered fabric is advanced either by hand or by a special switching device as indicated by the arrow shown in FIG.

As can be seen from the preceding, the knife carrier shaft 4 also lowers with the rod 21, namely by the same amount as the former. When the unembroidered fabric is under the pressure plate, the height of the gap between the knife 20 and the table top is equal to or slightly greater than the thickness of the unembroidered joint, at least less than the thickness of the fabric at the embroidered areas.

 EMI2.1
is no longer hit by the latter and is no longer cut.

As already mentioned, when the knife 10 is completely lowered, its distance from the table top 2 is smaller than the unembroidered fabric thickness; when the unembroidered fabric passes under the pressure plate 12, the knife 10 is raised so high that it can pass unhindered under the latter. If, however, embroidered parts of the fabric come to the edge of the mesa, they are unable to pass under it and are cut by the knife along the embroidery edge from the unembroidered part of the fabric, whereupon they go over the knife.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the pusher 12, the knife 10 and the knife carrier 5 are fixed, while the support plate 2 is arranged to be displaceable. A spring 26 presses the support plate against the knife 10.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, the knife carrier shaft 4 is adjustably supported in the bracket 1; the same carries at the bottom a cross piece 27 with a rotatable shaft 28, on which the knife carrier 5 is attached by means of adjusting screws.

The knife 10 is fastened to the knife carrier by means of a clamping plate 7 and adjusting screws 8, 9. On the shaft 28 there is also a pusher 29 with roller 30. The position of the latter relative to the cutting edge of the knife 10 is such that when the roller 30 rests on the unembroidered fabric, only the unembroidered fabric can pass unhindered between the table top and the knife , the embroidered, on the other hand, is cut off by the knife from the unstitched joint along the boundary lines of the embroidery pattern and then slides over the knife.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 to 10, the shaft 4 of the knife carrier 5 is fastened in the bearing 3 of the bracket by means of an adjusting screw 4 ′. The pusher 12, which is mounted on a screw 12 ′ fixed in the support 32, is located under the knife.

A shaft 31 is non-rotatably mounted in the support 32 and loosely carries the supports 33. A spring 34, which is fastened by means of a screw 35 on a bracket 36 of the support 32, presses on a tab 37 of the support 33 and thus presses the latter against the pusher 12, for which purpose a block 38 is provided on the support 33 and a block 39 is provided on the pusher 12.

The goods with the unembroidered part are again passed in the sense of the arrows drawn in FIGS. 6 to 10 over the pusher 12 between the knife 10 and the support 33. The spring 34 presses the support 33 with its block toe 38 against the
Block 39 of the pusher 12, in which position the support 33 is so close to the knife 7C that only the unembroidered part of the goods can pass under the knife. If an embroidered point hits the knife (FIG. 9), it catches on the knife and is thus separated from the base material, which goes under the knife 10 and the knife carrier, while the embroidered part passes over the knife carrier .
