(Fig. 1), the distance B of which is equal to the base of the instrument, is sighted and adjusted so that the edge of the one mark, as shown in Fig. 2, cuts off with the central crack in the one field of view. If the optics are set correctly, the edge of the second mark at distance B must then also coincide with the central crack in the other field of view. Instead of the central cracks, two cracks (shown in dotted lines in FIG. 2), which '' are equally spaced from these on the same side, can be attached to the measuring mark plate and used for the correction.
The condition for this method is that the bar is set up at such a distance that its image falls into the plane of the mark plate; In the case of rangefinders for military purposes, this distance is generally greater than about 400? 1w, as the distances to be measured here are beyond this dimension and the measuring mark plate was set for this.
At shorter distances from the staff, the images of the staff marks become parallax.
In order to be able to correct about 100 mi. With the staff at a short distance, according to the present invention, two marks are attached in the image planes which correspond to this distance, the images of which appear in the fields of view as in FIG. 3 drawn. The edges a of the marks take the place of the central cracks for the correction.
The marks can, for example, be attached to a special glass plate, or they can be replaced by pins s which, as shown in FIG. 4, pass through the housing and are adjustable from the outside.
