thread is secured. The finished electrode can also be directly covered with cotton, then the electrode is ready for use. Due to the extremely fine distribution of the poorly conductive active material in the fine mesh of the metal cloth, the addition of the inactive conductive agent is superfluous.
The puncture of the inactive conductive agent is performed by the metal cloth, which at the same time serves as an extremely light, excellently conductive carrier with a large surface, which has extremely small spatial dimensions due to the rolling up. By firmly rolling up the metal cloth to form a rod, the active paste has secure, firm contact in and with the metal cloth, while at the same time the layers of metal cloth superimposed on one another make it impossible for the mass to be washed out, despite sufficient diffusion possibilities for the electrolyte. By wrapping and securing with indifferent, non-conductive material, the mass is prevented from being washed out of the fine pores of the outermost layer.
An electrode produced in this way cannot be influenced by any gas tensions and volume changes in the active materials during charging and discharging; rather, the contact is always completely maintained. The stressed electrode is extremely resistant to vibrations and external mechanical influences. A number of the above-described roller-shaped electrodes are inserted into a carrier made of a suitable material, suitably nickel, with no spacing or a small spacing from one another.
These electrode rollers are fastened in the frame in such a way that the drain wire protruding at both ends in the middle of each electrode roller (Fig. 3) is intimately connected to the frame by mechanical connection (riveting) or welding (Fig. 4).
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the production of electrodes for electrical collectors with alkaline electrolytes, characterized in that the effective mass, for. B. nickel oxide hydrate or cobalt oxide hydrate or other poorly conductive metal-oxygen compounds without the addition of an inactive conductive agent in metal cloth or metal gauze of extremely fine meshes and the pasted metal cloth is put together in a suitable form.
