The anvil 131 shown in FIG. 14 can be designed like the laterally immovable anvil 113 of FIG. 6 or like the outwardly movable anvil 132 of FIG. 9. A wedge-shaped block 145 is attached to the anvil 131 and is designed in such a way that, in cooperation with the hammer surface 101 cut out at 146, it bends the frame and thereby stretches it in the longitudinal direction of the same. Because of the wedge-shaped shape of block 145, the outer edge of the frame is stretched the most. On both sides of the wedge block 145 the frame supporting members 147 are attached, which are usually held by springs 143 in the raised position (FIG. 14).
During the action of the hammer, the links 147 are pressed down. The stretching device attached to the anvil 131 can of course also be attached to an anvil of any type. So that the frame is also stretched in its width direction, the. Links 147 and the block 145 attached to a slide 148 which has a connection 149, 150, 151 with a suitable pedal lever, not shown, by means of which the mentioned stretching device can be moved in the width direction of the frame.
A spring 152 holds the stretchers in their normal position. In the type shown in FIG. 13, the hammer lever 160 consists of an angle lever which is rotatable on a block 162. The block 162 is connected to the anvil by a steering piece 164. In this way, the eccentric 106 moves the hammer and the anvil in and out with respect to the stationary workpiece abutment 165 and also gives the hammer its perpendicular impact.

characterized in that an elongation of the frame in the width direction is achieved in that a relative movement of the frame and at least one of the tools acting on it is brought about in a horizontal plane perpendicular to the sole edge when the hammer is in contact with the frame.
