<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a method for releasing a key from a key depot and a key depot system for carrying out the method.
Key depots are used to keep keys for blocked objects ready for use and to make them accessible to authorized or authorized persons. These can be persons from security or control services who have to inspect buildings or parts of buildings at specified intervals or also emergency services, such as the police or fire brigade, who have to open locked objects in the event of danger. In most cases there is a general key in a key depot, which gives access to all essential sections of the building and its storage and use must therefore be subject to strict controls.
For example, key depots, in which the key is kept in a lockable cabinet that can be opened with universal keys from the fire brigade or the police, have not proven themselves, since it cannot be ruled out that unauthorized persons can also use such keys and thus gain access to storage complexes , Office buildings or sections of residential buildings.
In this context, DE 32 34 859 A describes a key depot in which the key can be removed by the authorized user after input of a code signal which is stored internally in an electronic part of the key depot, this storage being neither accessible nor changeable from the outside. The described key depository can be designed, for example, as a wall cupboard or wall safe with an operating panel into which several locking cylinders are recessed to hold the keys. An electromagnetically operated bolt acts on each of the locking cylinders, so that the locking cylinder can only be turned back from the locked position to the removal position with the key when the bolt releases this movement.
The locking mechanism is connected to a code evaluation, which is able to release the lock of the locking cylinder after entering a number code.
The key depot can also be equipped with a suitable recording device in order to log all key withdrawals.
The object of the present invention is to propose a key depot system which simplifies or reduces the management and logging of master keys, all security aspects being to be fully guaranteed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object according to the invention is achieved in that an authorized person sends a coded message to a central point via a mobile radio network, which contains information about the depot to be released and the authorized person, that the coded message is checked in the central point and the access authorization is determined, and that if the access authorization is determined, the central unit sends a coded message to the key depot, which triggers a signal to unlock the key depot.
Advantageously, the new method is based in part on existing structures such as the civil or military mobile radio networks and the mobile telephones used in these networks. The electronic and software equipment of the key depot required for direct code entry at the key depot according to the state of the art is not necessary in the system according to the invention, since these areas are outsourced to a central point which, according to the invention, several key depots of a large object or different key depots of different individual objects can be assigned ,
The message sent to the central office by the authorized person before the key is removed contains both the data about the depot to be released and that of the authorized person, which are entered into the mobile phone, for example, as a number code, which is only known to the authorized person. After determining the access authorization in the central office, a message is sent to the key depot, which unlocks it and the key is released. The central office can preferably be operated automatically, but can also be monitored by a control body.
According to the invention, a coded message is automatically sent to the central office after the key has been returned to the key depot. This measure enables an exact logging of the key removal, the removal or return time and the personal data of the authorized person being automatically saved. Irregularities, such as missing key return or too long a withdrawal time, can immediately trigger an alarm in the control center.
Another advantage is that, in the event of danger, the authorized person can send a coded warning message to the central office, by means of which a predetermined alarm plan is activated.
It is particularly advantageous if the coded messages are sent to the central office or from the central office to the key depot in the format of the short message service (SMS).
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The key depot system according to the invention, which is equipped with a key depot for at least one key that can be unlocked by an electrical release signal, has a central point that can be connected to the key depot via a mobile radio network and at least one mobile phone assigned to an authorized person.
Furthermore, the central point has a transmitting and receiving device which is suitable, after receipt of a coded message from the mobile telephone, of sending a coded message to the key depot which triggers the electrical release signal for the key.
On the one hand, the release signal can unlock the door of a wall safe, after which the key or keys contained can be removed. However, it is also possible for the key to be arranged in the key depository in a manner known per se in a suitable locking cylinder, which is blocked in the blocking position by an electromagnetically actuated bolt.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of a schematic drawing.
The key depot system consists of the actual key depot 1, which can establish radio communication with a central unit 2 via a mobile radio network, and a plurality of mobile telephones 3, each of which is assigned to authorized persons, for example security or control personnel or emergency services such as the police or fire brigade. The key depot 1 can be embedded in the outer wall of the object to be secured as a closet or wall safe and, in the embodiment variant shown, has a locking cylinder 4 into which the key 5 can be inserted. In the locked position, the key 5 is blocked by an electromagnetically operable bolt 6.
In order to remove the key 5 by an authorized person, the latter sends a message to the transmitting and receiving device 7 of the central station 2 via the mobile telephone 3, which contains data in coded form about the key depot 1 to be released and the authorized person, for example in the form of a number code to be typed in , contains and is passed on from a modem 8 to a computer unit 9.
The computer unit 9 can either automatically determine the access authorization on the basis of stored access data and personal information and transmit a corresponding message to the transmitting and receiving device 10 of the key depot 1, but it is also possible for incoming messages to be monitored at the central office by a control body and only then a corresponding message is sent to the key depot 1. The incoming coded message is sent via a modem 11 to an electromagnetic control device 12
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
supplied, through which the bolt 6 of the lock cylinder 4 is released so that the key 5 can be removed.
When the key is returned to the key depot 1, it is inserted into the locking cylinder 4 and turned in the blocking direction. In the locked position, the key 5 is blocked by the bolt 6 and at the same time a message is sent to the central office 2, which indicates the return of the key 5 for documentation purposes.
The computer unit 9 of the central station 2 is also used for logging the key removal data and has a data input unit including display 13 and a printer 14 for log output.
In this context, it should be pointed out that the terms "key" and "lock or lock cylinder" are not limited to special external shapes, but must be understood in the broadest sense and also modern forms of replacement, such as magnetic cards or other non-mechanical keys and the ones used for them Should include locks.
