Process for separating water from crude oil and crude oil distillates.

The present invention relates to a method for separating water from crude oil, crude oil distillates, tars (gas tears) and the like, especially from heavy fractions. The distillation of crude oil with steam produces an emulsion, especially in the case of the heavy fractions, from which the water can only be removed with great difficulty and imperfectly or not at all simply by heating. This is due to the strong surface tension of the suspended particles of the heavy oils, which prevents them from flowing together. If this surface tension is now due to the mechanical action of sharp-grained materials (e.g.

   B. sharp sand, fine glass splinters, deterred shipping, iron filings and the like.) Destroyed, the suspended spheres of the oil flow together, causing a separation of the two liquids Ö! and water is ejected. This can be done either by mechanical mixing of the heated emulsion with 8 sharp-grained materials by means of air or a stirrer, but the mixing can also take place in a heated filter filled with sharp-grained materials, e.g. B. the emulsion is filtered through such a filter under pressure.

   PATENT CLAIMS
1. A method for separating water from crude oil, crude oil distillates, tars (gas tears) and the like (especially from the heavy fractions), characterized in that the surface tension of the emulsion formed during distillation with steam is caused by the mechanical action of sharp-edged materials such as sharp sand , fine glass splinters, iron filings and the like. Is destroyed.
