Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of a conductive layer suitable for receiving galvanic metal coatings on non-conductive objects.
The present method differs from known methods of this type in which the conductive layer is produced by saturating the surface of the non-conductive workpiece with water-soluble substances, or by applying a wax layer, graphite and bronze powder or both at the same time, in that the conductive Layer is made by laying sheet metal on a known substrate made of water-insoluble, heat-resistant and drying substances.
Example: An object made of porous, non-conductive material, e.g. B. a wooden panel provided with a relief is soaked or saturated by means of oil paint, oil varnish or the like. After drying, a coating consisting of a sticky mass that insulates against the ingress of liquid in the galvanic bath, e.g. B. slowly drying oil varnish, applied and thereby a known type of substrate made of water-insoluble and heat-resistant substances. Before the latter order is completely dry, cover it with sheet metal, e.g. B. Btattsitber.-brass, -copper etc.
This thin metal layer forms a good electrical conductor on which the desired metal in the galvanic bath, into which the object pretreated in this way is introduced, is deposited simultaneously and therefore evenly at all points.
The galvanic metal coating can be polished and sanded and can be applied to any object in the manner described without losing the subtleties of the drawings and the structure. Furthermore, the present method has the advantage that workpieces made of different materials can be treated in one and the same bath without having to fear the known side effects that decompose the baths.
