<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a device for releasably connecting the socks of a pair of socks.
After washing several pairs of socks, there is the problem that socks that belong together must be reassigned to one another. To solve this
Problem and for storing socks it is known to socks or
Stockings with buttons, snaps or dgi. during washing and for
Keep connecting to each other. However, this has the disadvantage that buttons attached to the outside of the shaft of the stocking or sock
Wear are generally visible, whereas on the inside of the shaft of the
Stocking or sock attached buttons uncomfortable pressure or
Bring abrasions for the wearer with them (US Pat. No. 5,038,413), in particular if they are covered by a shoe. In order to avoid these pressure points, it is known (US Pat. No. 4,165,555 A) to provide a Velcro fastener instead of a pressure fastener. The undesirable pressure points or chafing points can thus be avoided, but the two socks of a pair of socks cannot be held together sufficiently firmly, so that the two socks can separate from one another during a washing process.
The invention is therefore based on the object of designing a device of the type described in such a way that the socks of a pair of socks can be releasably and stably connected to one another without having to fear pressure points for the wearer and without being visible when worn.
The invention solves this problem in that each sock of a pair of socks has a receiving element in which a connecting element detachably engages. in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In the simplest case, the receiving element consists of one of the two buttonholes arranged next to one another, into which the connecting element engages. Particularly simple and advantageous conditions result, however, if the receiving element has a loop or formed by the sock or fastened to the sock
Belt loop is. This loop can be sewn on to the sock separately, or a ribbon loop usually provided with an advertising banner from the manufacturer is used as the receiving element.
For example, a ring or a U-shaped element that overlaps in its end regions can be provided as the connecting element. When the socks are worn, the connecting element is removed from the receiving elements of the two socks and stored separately until it is inserted into the socks again after the socks have been removed or before the washing process, where they can remain until the socks are put on again.
A safe, easy-to-use device according to the invention is obtained if the connecting element has three essentially parallel webs, two of which are connected to one another at one end and an opening is provided at the other end for the use of the connecting element in the receiving elements. This essentially results in S-shaped, Z-shaped or E-shaped connecting elements which can be produced inexpensively from plastic or metal. To connect the two socks of a pair of socks, the outer of the three webs is pushed over the opening into the receiving element of the respective sock.
In order to avoid undesired or unintentional detachment of the two socks from one another, for example in a washing machine, the two outer webs in the area of the openings have an attachment directed towards the central web. Additionally or alternatively, in order to increase the hold of the connecting element in the receiving element, the middle web of the connecting element can bear projections directed against the outer webs.
In order to be able to leave the connecting element in the receiving element when the socks are worn without being visible to third parties, the

taking element at least partially overlapping screen element may be provided.
In the drawing, the invention is illustrated using schematic exemplary embodiments. Show it
1 shows a device according to the invention for releasably connecting two sockets in a top view, FIG. 2 shows the device from FIG. 1 in a front view, FIG. 3 shows an embodiment variant of a device according to the invention in a top view, and FIG. 4 shows the device from FIG. 3 in section line IV-IV.
A device for releasably connecting the socks 1 of a pair of socks comprises, for each sock 1, a receiving element 2 and a connecting element 3, which detachably engages in the receiving elements 2 of the two socks 1. 1 and 2, the receiving element 2 is a ribbon loop sewn onto the sock 1. 3 and 4, the receiving elements 2 are formed by the sock, which essentially comprises two buttonholes 4 arranged next to one another, through which the connecting element 3 is inserted into the socks 1.
The connecting elements 3 have three mutually parallel webs 5, two webs 5 being connected to one another at one end via transverse webs. The connecting elements 5 are therefore either S, Z or E-shaped and are pushed with their openings 6 into the receiving elements 2. In order to ensure a secure hold of the connecting elements 3 on the receiving elements 2, the two outer webs 5 in the area of the openings 6 have a shoulder 7 directed against the central web 5 and carry the middle webs 5 directed against the outer webs 5.
To cover the connecting element 3, in the event that it should remain on a sock 1 when the socks 1 are worn, a cover element 9 covering the receiving element 2 is provided.
