pours on it, which is just enough to liquefy the th layer on the surface, whereby the intimate connection of the two layers is achieved by mutual mixing on the contact surface. Of course, you can also proceed the other way around, i. H. first pour the acid-resistant layer, which in this case of course has to be done on a smooth surface and then the alkali-resistant layer on top, the top of which can then be provided with depressions, grooves or the like in the manner described. The size of the plates, their thickness and the thickness of the two layers can of course be different as required.
Suitable acid- and alkali-resistant mixtures of organic fusible products are known, but the mixing ratios must be selected such that the two layers have the same physical properties required. For example, a mixture of asphalt, gutta-percha and wool fat, freed from the saponifiable components by means of sodium hydroxide, can be used as the alkali-resistant layer of the plate, for which talc can be added as a filler.
A layer of acid-resistant material that bonds well with this is obtained by melting Manila opal or another resin with wood pitch freed from its low-melting components and thickened linseed oil, whereby talc can again be added as a filler. The lining of the concrete containers with the double-layer panels produced in this way is now done in such a way that the panels are set directly into the formwork of the concrete wall and only then is the concrete tamped, or in such a way that the panels are applied to the finished concrete walls using cement mortar .
The joints between the individual panels, which are expediently kept around 1 cl wide, must then be filled with the same masses that the panels are made of, in such a way that the alkali-resistant layer is also first poured in and only then the acid-resistant mass is poured in . In this way, a completely uniform, seamless lining is created, which is characterized by the fact that it consists of physically similar layers, of which the one in contact with the concrete wall is alkali-resistant, while the inner one is resistant to the contents of the container.
