Der Katarakt kann statt mit dem Druck-auch mit dem Saugventil 3 (Fig. 3) oder aber mit dem Kolben selbst (Fig. 4) verbunden sein. In letzterem Falle wird bei gefülltem Katarakt die Bewegung des Kolbens gesperrt. Dies macht die Einschaltung eines elastischen Zwischengliedes 12 in das Antriebsgetriebe des Kolbens erforderlich.
Die Pumpe lässt sich auch für Gase oder Dämpfe verwenden. Dem Flüssigkeitsspiegel entspricht dann ein gewünschter Gasdruck, bei dessen Erreichung die entsprechend gewählte Ventilfeder nicht mehr imstande ist, die in dem Katarakt eingeschlossene Gasmenge so stark zu verdichten, dass ein Schluss des Druckventiles stattfinden kann.
PATENT. ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Regelungsvorrichtung für Flüssigkeits-, Gas-oder Dampfpumpen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein oder mehrere Pumpenteile (z. B. Ventile oder Kolben) mit einem Katarakt in Verbindung stehen, der ihre Wirkung beeinflusst bzw. zeitweise ausschaltet, um die Förderung der Pumpe zu unterbrechen, wenn ein bestimmter Flüssigkeitsspiegel oder Druck erreicht ist.

The pump can also be used for gases or vapors. The liquid level then corresponds to a desired gas pressure which, when reached, the correspondingly selected valve spring is no longer able to compress the amount of gas trapped in the cataract so strongly that the pressure valve can close.
