Method and device for making imitations of oil paintings.

The subject of the present invention is a method and an apparatus for making imitations of oil paintings, and in particular for treating the ordinary color images so that they look like real oil paintings. The method is an improvement on the one that forces you to imitate oil paintings by applying oil paints to the picture previously applied to a specially treated fabric by creating a copy or imitation of the brushstrokes on the surface, as well as impasting and varnishing of the original painting.

In order to be able to practice the invention, above all a positive plate is necessary, which is made as follows: Take a zinc plate about 2tMW thick and with the required dimensions. On the surface of this plate horizontal and vertical lines or grooves are etched in according to known methods, which give this surface the appearance of the canvas structure, as is used for painting with oil paint. The main outlines of the painting to be reproduced and in particular those of the various figures of the color image to be transformed into a painting imitation are copied on the side of the positive plate that is grooved in this way.

   In addition

said mass are indicated. Every now and then the texture of the imitated canvas must remain visible, just as it is the case with real Ötgematden. The best

Depending on the impressions which the more or less dense layers of the mass of the positive plate 111 of the negative plate leave, the color picture will have more or less relief, which makes it look similar to a real oil painting. If it is necessary to stick the paint on canvas, the back of the fabric is coated with a layer of gelatin and then varnished and dried. The white furbus for oiled paper is probably the best suited material for this purpose. After drying,
