Cleaning preparations for metal objects.
The present invention relates to a cleaning agent for metal objects and is based on the observation that metal objects of all kinds can be freed from any impurities adhering to their surface, such as oxide or sulfide layers, etc., in a simple manner by treating them with a mixture, which consists of a neutral or acidic compound capable of dissociating in dissolved form, such as salts or acids, and of a powdery, in the presence of the solution of the compound used in contact with the metal to be cleaned against this metal which becomes negative electrical.
If necessary, the above-mentioned mixture can also contain an addition of inert substances such as kieselguhr, fine sand, soap or the like, which support the cleaning process through their abrasive or degreasing effect.
When the metal object to be cleaned is treated with a mixture of the specified type in a moistened state, a galvanic chain is created in which the object to be treated itself acts as a positive pole, the metal powder to be used as a negative pole and the dissociable compound added to this powder acts as an electrolyte, so that under the Influence of the cations migrating to the cleaning metal object, the impurities adhering to it are removed.
The following information may serve as an example of the composition and method of use of the cleaning agent forming the subject of the invention, assuming that it is the cleaning of silverware or buttonware: A mixture of zinc dust, powdered ammonia and kieselguhr is moderately moistened and then added rubbed into the silver or copper object to be cleaned, giving it a shiny surface.
In the specified mixture, the zinc can advantageously also be replaced by magnesium, aluminum or other metals with a higher solution pressure compared to the metal of the object to be treated in the presence of the dissociable compound, and the ammonia, for example, by tartaric acid or other, suitable, dissociable when they are converted into solution acidic or neutral compounds can be replaced without the essence of the present invention being changed.
PATENT. EXPECTATIONS :
1. Cleaning agent for metal objects, characterized in that the same from a powdery mixture to be used in the moist state of a neutral or acidic compound capable of dissociating in dissolved form, such as salts or acids, and one in the presence of a solution of this compound with respect to the metals to be cleaned is electrically negative charging metals.
