and fed through the same to an inclined, rotating drying drum c, which is shown in section in FIG. 1 a. In this drying drum, longitudinally extending tubes C1 are arranged in a known manner, through which the peat is conveyed from the hopper b and exits the drum at the opposite end, from where it is removed by a conveyor device d and transferred to the point of use. The drying drum can be heated in any suitable way, and in the present case this is done by means of the steam introduced through the pin & which exits through the holes c * provided in the hollow axis c.
The water vapor developing as a result of the drying process, which also contains the air introduced and all the dust that has been entrained, can, if necessary, be partially discharged into the open air on the chimney. For this purpose, outward-opening flaps are provided, the position of which is provided by a Chain / and handwheel J3 can be regulated.
According to the invention, however, the hot vapor laden with dust is to be wholly or almost completely introduced into the gas generator h, into which it is either sucked in or pressed in below the grate g. The water vapor makes its way through the pipe. j and dust separator k, if a previous dust separation is desired, to the air supply pipe i arranged below the gas generator, where it is mixed with the amount of air required for the operation of the gas generator through valve il, in order to then enter the gas generator.
The fuel gas generated in the generator is sucked in by the suction fan w and flows through the lines first into the ammonia absorption chambers o, where it is freed from ammonia and where at the same time the temperature of the gas is reduced in such a way that it passes through the discharge line p and the fan m sucked through and in a cooled and ammonia-free state can be passed through pipe q to any point of consumption.
