Screws 7 and 8 attached, of which the latter, attached to the clamping strips 6, are passed through a correspondingly coarse opening 9 of the clamping strips, 5, the inner clamping strips 6 are used to fix the negative 10, while the outer clamping strips to hold or Specify the retouching skins. For this purpose, the retouches are attached

The recesses 13 are located both in the upper and in the lower bar 6, whereby the possibility is given of the tabs 12 under the held negative 10 as well as above the same through the openings that are created by the recesses 13, through to the terminal strips 5 to be able to lead. For example, screws are used to press the individual strips onto one another. M, for which appropriate openings must be provided in the negative and in the tabs 12 of the retouching skins.
The thick copy glass pane 15 is held in the frame itself, and means are also provided, not shown here, in order to be able to press the pressure plate 16 firmly against the negative and to be able to secure it in the position it has once assumed. Wedges, springs and other means commonly used in photocopier frames are used for this purpose.
The procedure with this device is carried out as follows:
The individual negatives of a larger number of individual images are transferred to a thin celluloid layer, in a manner known per se, by detaching the negative layer from the negative and transferring the same onto the celluloid film. The obtained in this way

The negative is now tensioned smoothly by tightening the screws 8 and a retouching film 11 is then placed on the negative and its tabs 12 are guided through the recess 13 in the upper bar 6 to the outer clamping bars 5. This applied retouching skin is also stretched smooth by tightening the screws 7 (see FIGS. 2 and 5). Once this has been done, the retoucher begins his work by retouching the color in full and half tones that is desired. Is the skin 11 retouched, i. H. if all individual images of the negative on the retouching skin have been treated accordingly, the skin 11 is released from the clamping strips 5 and lifted off the negative film. Now the retoucher does the same with the various other colors.
When all the colors have been treated in this way, the printing plates are copied, as many as the retouching skins were made.
The copying itself is done in the following way:
One of the retouching skins is brought under the negative film, which is now held taut by the clamping strips 6, with the retouched surface resting against the negative film.

precisely adjusted.
If wrinkles or waves have formed in the negative film or in the retouching skin, they can easily be removed or compensated for by adjusting the individual tensioning screws 7 and 8. A very precise fit of the retouching skin and the negative film over the entire surface is achieved. The result is a clear copy.
It should also be mentioned here that the pressure plate 16 is placed with its layer side on the layer side of the negative film 10 and that this pressure plate is made by suitable means, wedges, springs
