Device for suppressing harmful self-excitation caused by strong magnetic
Saturation in regenerative braking of multi-phase collector machines.
As is known, when a multi-phase collector machine is braked as a motor and is supposed to supply useful current as a generator, it has the property of being self-excited and generating a current superimposed on the multi-phase current at a different frequency than the useful current for which the network forms a short circuit. The harmful self-excitation can be suppressed by strong magnetic saturation of iron parts, which are electromagnetically connected to the circuits of the machine running as a generator.
Providing strong saturation in the magnetic circuit of the machine itself is inexpedient, as it cannot be used for the entire work area. Nor can it be used in the main or intermediate transformer without disadvantages for the motor operation. According to the invention, these difficulties are to be overcome.
Known electromagnetic phenomena that result for different arrangements of the individual phases of a three-phase jacket transformer are now shown schematically and diagrammatically in FIGS. The arrows in Fig. 1 indicate the directions of the
EMI1.1
Assuming the same saturation for all iron parts, the arrangement according to FIG. 3 leads to smaller iron cross sections than that according to FIG. 1; it is therefore sometimes preferred to this circuit in order to save material in the construction of the transformer.
If the direction of winding of a phase is reversed in a three-phase transformer constructed according to these aspects, the saturation in the jointly influenced iron cross-sections rises to # 3 times. Use is made of this effect in order to obtain the desired high iron saturation for the regenerative braking period of a multi-phase collector machine. For this purpose will. as in Flg. 5 is shown schematically. with the
EMI1.2
commitment.
For the generator period of the machine, this changeover switch reverses the winding direction of this phase so that the resulting magnetic fluxes are significantly increased by each iron cross-section influenced by this and one of the two other phases according to FIG. 2 and the iron saturations are increased accordingly.
