Submersible rudders.
The invention relates to submersible rudders for submarines of the type that are attached to the hull of the ship so that they can be folded down and essentially consists in arranging the axis of rotation of such foldable diving rudders inclined to the horizontal at such an angle that the rudders are tilted to lift or lower after folding required incline of the boat. By this arrangement of the submersible rudder, in contrast to known designs with rudders that can be rotated about horizontal axes, with the greatest possible elimination of any resistance thereof during travel, a rapid under or. Surface of the submarine guaranteed.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 3.
As can be seen, the diving rudders consist of flat or stepped surfaces A, B, preferably triangular in shape. The submersible rudders, which rest on the hull of the boat at the front or rear, are attached to the hull by hinges a, b and c, respectively.
The diving rudders are influenced from the inside by means of levers that act at e and f. By
EMI1.1
Submersible rudders are withdrawn again until they touch the hull.
The effect of this diving rudder is as follows:
To submerge, open the upper oar 4 (Fig. 2) until it reaches a certain level
EMI1.2
of the boat creates a force that raises the bow. If the diving oars are arranged at the rear of the boat, the effect is of course the opposite.
