Sollte sleh beim Abfliessen des Wassers eine gelbliche Färbung zeigen, so ist ein mehrmaliges Nachgiessen von kaltem Wasser zum Auslaugen des betreffenden Farbstoffes erforderlich.
(Schon hiebei zeigt es sich, dass der vorgekochte Stoff keine Knochenkohle mehr durchlässt.) Ist das Wasser zuletzt klar abgeflossen, so stellt man das Sieb mit dem Stoff an einen warmen Ort zum schnellen Austrocknen und legt ihn dann kurz vor der gänzlichen Trockenheit unter eine Presse, entweder wieder zwischen Glanzpapiere oder zwischen zwei blanke Metallplatten und lässt ihn mehrere Stunden in der Presse stehen. Hierauf wird der Stoff herausgenommen und nochmals mittels kalter, schwerer Walze ausgewalzt.
Durch dieses Verfahren wird ein absolut sicheres Binden einer reichlichen Menge von Kohle in dem Faserstoff und eine innig feine Verfilzung des Asbests mit den Fasern des Filterstoffes erreicht.
