Iron coated with an aluminum alloy.

The iron that has been produced up to now and coated with aluminum or with alloys rich in aluminum could not be processed in the annealing heat of the iron, nor could it be soft annealed again, since the melting points of the coatings in question were consistently within the melting limit of aluminum (approx. 7000 C). This fact made itself disadvantageously palpable and difficult in the manufacture of rolled products such as sheets, wires, rods, and tubes, which, as is well known, almost always takes place in the annealing heat of the iron, including the re-softening of the iron at this temperature also an intimate alloy of the coating with the egg, which is often too cold at about 6500 ° C. The present invention aims to avoid these inconveniences.

The basis of the same is the knowledge that the production of high-fusible, aluminum-rich alloys, their weldability in the relevant temperature

It is known that refractory, aluminum-rich alloys can be produced by adding higher-melting other metals such as nickel, iron, tungsten, iridium, zer, thor, cobalt and others to the aluminum, and an aluminum-tungsten-cobalt alloy, for example, is suitable for this purpose.

Such a coating is then applied to the iron in a known manner by bringing together the inset with the coating and welding together both metals under pressure (rolling, pressing, hammering, hammering) without oxidation, at their temperature, which in this case is around 800 to 1000 C. , Welding temperature.
