  Zapfenverbindung.

  Tenon connection.

It is already known to increase the strength of wood connections by introducing metal sheets provided with shoulders between the contact surfaces of the wood. In the case of tenon joints, however, this was previously not possible because of the difficulty of installation.

According to the invention, this problem is eliminated in that the end face of the pin is covered with an insert plate protruding on both sides and is then pressed into the pin hole. When the pin is pressed in, the protruding parts of the insert plate lie against the side surfaces of the pin, into which the lugs of the plate penetrate.

This tenon connection is particularly suitable for wood connections in furniture and the like.

It's beneficial. To use insert sheets, the edges of which are toothed, since the fibers that are compressed and pushed back when the pin is pressed in expand again and penetrate the gaps between the teeth, which increases the security of the connection.

The drawing illustrates in Fig. 1 the insert sheet in a diagrammatic representation.

3 and 3 show, in cross section, the pieces of wood to be connected together with the sheet metal insert before or after the pin has been introduced into the bore.

The pin B, which is intended to engage in the pin hole a of the beam A, is covered on its end face with a sheet metal strip 10. which protrudes on both sides of the surface. The sheet metal strip 10 has toothed edges and is also in a known manner both on the outside
