Ein gemäss der'Erfindung gebautes Relais ist nicht auf die Verwendung als Kurzschluss- relais beschränkt, sondern kann auch für ein Überstromrelais verwendet werden, bei dem die Auslösezeit von irgend einer mechanischen Grösse, z. B. Umlaufszahl eines Motors, dem Druck einer Rohrleitung, der Temperatur in irgend einem'Raume abhängig ist.
In diesem Falle wird der Gegenkontakt mechanisch von der zu überwachenden Grösse verstellt, oder das Spannungselement wird aus einer Hilfsstromquelle gespeist und die Spannung oder der Widerstand von der zu überwachenden mechanischen Grösse abhängig gemacht ; auch steht nichts im Wege, die Auslösezeit von einer anderen elektrischen Grösse abhängig zu machen, während man sie von der Auslösestromstärke belber natürlich nicht abhängig machen wird, da dann das Relais als gewöhnliches stromabhängiges Zeitrelais arbeiten würde.
