Safety device on incandescent lamps for liquid fuel.

Incandescent lamps are known in which, when the tap of the line which leads the liquid fuel from the fuel container to the gasifier is closed, a tap is opened to feed the amount of fuel into a storage container that is required to heat the gasifier when the lamp is restarted . This storage container runs upwards into an open tube which protrudes over the fuel container. When the lamp is extinguished, i.e. the tap is closed, the spirit or spirit gas in the evaporator tube is no longer under the pressure of the gradient.

If the tap did not close tightly, it happened that, as a result of the pressure created by the gasification, alcohol gas was pushed back to the tap and, if it leaked, forcibly sought a way out through the open pipe so that liquid fuel was thrown out of the pipe ran over the lamp parts and ignited at the not yet completely extinguished burner and set the lamp on fire. The object of the invention is to prevent this.

In the drawing, an incandescent lamp for liquid fuel is shown in a partial longitudinal section.
 EMI1.1
Pipe 2 to the carburetor 4. The gases formed after the carburetor has been heated up rise through the pipe 5 to a superheater 6, from which they are fed through a line 7 to the burner 8. The exhaust gases leave the lamp in a known manner through the chimney.

The cock 3 also engages with its extended cock plug in a line leading to a storage container J7 in such a way that in the position in which the fuel supply from the container 1 to the carburetor 4 is cut off, a connection is established between the line 2 and the container 11, so that fuel can get into the container 11 through line 2, tap 3. In this and the connected pipe 12, the fuel will rise as high as the fuel level in the container 1 due to the effect of the communicating vessels; in the known devices, therefore, the tube 12 is guided over the fuel container t (see dotted illustration).

If the cock 3 is opened so that the fuel can get from the container 1 to the carburetor 4, the line to the storage container 11 is opened at the same time so that the amount of fuel in this can flow into the heating bowl 9.

   These facilities are known.

In order to prevent liquid fuel from being thrown out of the tube 12 when the lamp is extinguished as a result of excess pressure - as described above - and thereby endangered by the lamp, the tube 12 opens at 13 into the fuel container 1, so that it is impossible to eject fuel is because it is returned to container 1.
