Tin opener.
The present invention relates to a can opener for crimped or soldered cans which can be easily and cheaply made from a single sheet metal and made very small without being inconvenient to use.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4 show two different embodiments of the opener and its use when opening a can.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the opening device consists of a sheet metal strip A, the end B of which is bent over in such a way that it adapts to the folded edge of the can and extends on the inside of the can approximately down to the canister lid. The bent end edge is appropriately cut off at an angle. Before the bend, part C of the sheet metal strip is cut out and pressed a little towards the same side as the bent end. The upper end of the pre-pressed tongue adapts to the lower edge of the can fold on the outside of the can, as shown in FIG.
The tongue C is expediently made of such a length that it ensures good resilience perpendicular to the sheet metal strip A and the opener placed on the can is supported and held on it by means of the tongue C and the bent part B. To open the can. you only need the lower free one
Turn the end of the sheet metal strip A in the cutting direction, WT indicated by the arrow in FIG. The opener will swing around its contact point between tongue 0 and the folded edge of the can and the bent end edge will cut through the can lid. The cutting continues by constantly moving the opener in the same direction.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, the system C is not real tire by cutting out and pressing out, as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, but by bending the B). 4, so that, as can be seen from FIG. 3, the same forms a ring which is pressed together flat except for one end and which is cut out at an angle. I'aJurch will be exactly the same
Effect achieved as in the embodiment described above.
The system C does not necessarily need to be made resilient and the opener can do the same
Way to be used when z. Usually the tongue ("'is made so short that it does not bounce, but the resilience is an advantage because the bend can then be precisely adapted to the folded edge so that the opener is well supported on the Doso.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Can opener, consisting of a metal strip, one end (B) of which the
Forms cutting edge and is bent transversely to the length direction of the strip in such a way that it grips over the folded edge, and which is provided in front of the bending point with an extension (C) that adapts to the folded edge on the outside of the can, so that the bent Edge can be pressed through the lid if the downward protruding
The end of the opener is rotated in the cutting direction.
