Schnellaufwerkzeug,

Fig. 1 den Schaft in Seitenansicht, Fig. 2 denselben in Vorderansicht.

High-speed tool,
The invention relates to high-speed tools, the shaft of which consists of ordinary iron or steel and the working part of which consists of high-speed steel. The known high-speed tools of this type, in which the work piece is soldered onto the end of the shaft

Working vibrates because the holder is weakened in the height direction. As a result of the vibration, the Schnellaufsttlckes often becomes detached from its base and the production of precise work is difficult.
According to the present invention, these deficiencies are to be remedied by welding the working part of the tool, which is made of high-speed steel, into a groove extending across the length of the shaft across the entire shaft cross-section. The new tool has the following advantages:
With the chosen arrangement, the welding work can be carried out so completely that the working part cannot become detached. (Tests have shown that even with a pressure of up to 3000 kg, the working part does not tear off the shaft.) The tool can be clamped so briefly on any lathe that vibration is impossible. Any unskilled worker can sharpen the new workpiece without being able to grind it.
The new tool can be used in many ways, as the steel can be used as a left and right scrubbing tool, as a left and right side tool, as a fillet tool and thread tool in a single execution.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the new high-speed tool according to the invention, for example, namely illustrates:
1 shows the shaft in side view, FIG. 2 shows the same in front view. 3 and 4 illustrate the working part in side view and front view. 6 and 6 show the working part inserted in the groove of the shaft in section and in side view.
6 shows the particular embodiment in which the working piece 1 protrudes over the width of the shaft. 7 shows the finished tool in a front view, the weld points being shown in dotted lines.
The shaft a of the tool can consist of ordinary iron or steel, while the insert b, which forms the working part, consists of high-speed steel.
The insert b is advantageously given the shape illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4 in order to adapt itself in an inclined position with two side surfaces of the groove c in the end of the shaft a.
