Process for the production of glass objects with colored decorations in the glass mass.
The invention relates to the production of glass objects with colored decorations in the glass mass and aims to achieve sound transitions between the different colors.
EMI1.1
which stained glass or enamel were applied to the surface of one layer of glass and then slowly warmed up and covered with a second layer of glass, had the disadvantage that the appearance or the contour of the painted or enamelled figures during the on. warming and processing of the glass has changed due to the different melting points of glass and color or enamel
By adding glass powder to the paint or enamel, attempts have been made to give the latter the same melting point as the glass, but this purpose has only been incompletely achieved, which means that the above-mentioned deficiency remains at least partially unresolved.
In the manufacture of decorated objects with colored figures by etching, the etching has hitherto been carried out on a colored glass layer attached to a glass mass, as a result of which a raised figure is obtained on an uncolored ground. These figures, however, are characterized by sharp and hard contours that lack the soft shade of color.
According to the invention, these inconveniences are avoided in that the figures are produced by breathing in a manner known per se with hydrofluoric acid on a colored glass layer, which is heated and coated with an outer colorless glass layer. The figures then consist of a glass mass that has exactly the same chemical composition as the surrounding glass, which means that when heated, they expand evenly with the surrounding glass. The outlines of the figures are created during the subsequent blow-molding
